A somewhat true story that is full of heart and comedy.

Modern live story that pulls at both hearts and minds.

People had reasons for disliking this movie, like the idea that it is another in a line of films and shows that make beautiful the idea of leaving behind your religious background for an Americanized foreigner, but this was based on the real couple behind the movie, so it sounds a bit unfair to throw it in with the rest. That being said, many comedians I love were in this doing both dramatic and comedic scenes, and the characters were all people I feel I'd met before. A sweet story with enough funny to not require devastatingly cruel scenes or holy sh_t moments.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kumail and (the real life) Emily sharing an Academy Award nomination next year for Best Original Screenplay, for The Big Sick is that rare kind of film that delivers some huge laughs along with a substantial amount of heart. Performances are top notch, some of the cultural critiquing is enjoyably incisive, and the undeniable sweetness that Kumail seems to almost genetically generate is more than amply on display. Technical merits are strong, and The Big Sick comes Highly recommended.

Just the kind of film we should be turning out here stateside. An excellent compelling story with wonderful characters you can fall in love with and driven by so much emotion with an excellent director's hand to pull it all together. The best filmmakers make it look easy - Michael Showalter and his team are no exception. This film feels effortless and its one of the best Rom-Coms I have ever seen. A true genre changer.

After seeing previews for this movie I decided to give it a shot, turns out that it is actually a pretty decent movie. Basically a comedy with some drama mixed in, its based on a true story which compared to many "based on true events" movies, its probably a fairly accurate representation of what happened where a lot of those kind of movies take a lot more liberty with those 'actual events'

I feel like only my film friends have talked to me about this this movie. What a flick! The performances were great and relatable. The chemistry between the cast is phenomenal and I couldn’t help but but get choked up a bit multiple times. This isn’t you’re every day comedy, but if you’re looking for something farther than just dirty joke, this is for you. My only issue was some pacing issues near the middle of the movie.

Likable characters and believable situations quickly establish this easy going comedy as enjoyable and easy to follow. Then the life or death element is introduced, and the story becomes absorbing. Very watchable and highly recommended. Bonus features are minimal but revealing.

I thought this movie was great. I wanted to see it over the summer when it was released in the theaters. However, I missed my chance, and my wife and I rented it one night. It was hilarious, touching, sweet, and romantic all at the same time, without being sanguine or fake.

The Big Sick was the biggest surprise of 2017 for me. I didn’t expect to love it so much. His true story is great. This is a feel-happy movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should check it out.

This movie was funny and heartfelt. You could relate to the issues no matter who you are. It showed what some people go through I their personal lives with family friends and a love life. It’s a good story and moves very well. Highly recommended
