Great cast and script. Great flow and funny as heck!!

With those two in a movie together, you can expect mayhem.

The movie is hilarious, showcasing the legendary comedy of Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, with Gene Hackman playing the straight man (no pun intended). My only issue is that a piece of the case had cracked off and was loose in the shrink wrap. I didn't take any stars away, though, because I bought this in store and didn't notice until I got home, so I easily could have chosen another copy and given this one to the staff.

As this will most likely be the only BluRay release of this film, this is a must have for any who loves outrageous, laugh out-loud comedies. My wife and I saw this in the theater back in 96 when it came out. One of the few films where I didn't mind laughing in public like that. Since then, Ive owned this film on LaserDisc, DVD, and now BluRay. While I wish all older catalog titles could receive 5 star restoration, this one probably never will get that kind of attention, but regardless it still looks good on BluRay, and at 7.99 it was worth it. With Robin Williams recent passing, this film becomes even more special seeing the insane physical comedy this so talented man was capable of. Supporting cast is wonderful as well. It was always good to see Gene Hackman in a comedy. Don't miss out on this one. ***** film, **** BluRay

this is one of robin williams and nathane lanes best films ever. Robin plays a gay man married to nathan lane and his son val is getting married. The cast is amazing, it is a movie that no matter how many times I watch it, it just never gets old and is always funny. No matter the age, this is a great movie. This is up there wit miss doubtfire, hook and good morning Vietnam to me, RIP robin!

The Birdcage tells the story of a South Beach gay couple who must hide their natural state and pretend to be straight for the benefit of their son, who has become engaged to a conservative US Senator's daughter. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are absolutely brilliant as the gay couple. Their scenes together are priceless, especially the ones where they practice being straight. You'll want to add this disc to your collection today!

My sons being high school actors, I thought they would appreciate the Birdcage. I was wrong, they LOVED it!!! I wasn't sure if the actors playing gay roles would disturb them, or make them see it is ok to play gay roles, or conversely be gay and play straight roles. Nathan Lane, Hank Azeria and Robin Williams make for a hilarious cast! Truly a fun movie, and I wish everyone would see it!

This film is a hoot from beginning to end. Nathan Lane steals the show in what I consider his best performance. If you love comedies I would definitely check this out, it's based on La Cage Au Follies and stays true to the source material. Great fun and energy from all actors. Should definitely be in your collection. Might not recommend young children watching due to some language but great movie!

The film uses fairly broad comedy which is in no way subtle. Most characters are drawn as caricatures in order to maximize comedic potential. Considering our current climate some of the anti-conservative elements are even more poignant today than they would have be on the movie's initial release. With respect to the look and sound of the film the colors are vibrant but the picture lacks fine detail and the 5.1 mix isn't particularly active. The disc also contains no special features which is a shame because with this level of talent involved I'm sure there are some interesting making of type stories.

While the personalities of the characters relies pretty heavily on stereotypes, the movie has a very original take on the issues at hand. All of the actors and actresses involved give phenomenal performances (particularly Nathan Lane and Robin Williams) and stands as one of my favorite Robin Williams movies. The quality of the blu-ray is pretty good as well and worth a purchase in my opinion.

I have watched this movie many times. Such a great film, and it still makes me laugh every time!! We could all used more laughter in our lives!!!

My husband introduced me to this movie and I can't believe I had never seen it before. It is now one of my favorites! Robin Williams and Nathan Lane give outstanding performances. And of course you've gotta love Hank Azaria in this movie! Something I can watch over and over again, a definite must-see!

Classic, hilarious film! An outstanding Robin Williams performance that you’ve gotta see if somehow you missed it. And at such a low price, this one is a steal. Wholeheartedly recommended.

A great way to remember Robin Williams in one of his better comedy venues. As great as Good Will Hunting, Awakenings, and Dead Poets Society were, The Birdcage is a showcase of Robin Williams at his comedic best. Great performance by Nathan Lane as he and Williams play off straight man Gene Hackman. Great fun, great acting, great comedy.

This has been one of my favorite movies since I saw it at the theater about fifteen years ago. The performances are spot on and the casting is perfect. I laugh every time I watch it and Hank Azaria, especially, cracks me up. Although the blu-ray is a little light on the extras, the transfer is the best I've ever seen this film look.

Great comic performances by Robin Williams and Nathan Lane make this a fun romp, with Gene Hackman, Diane Wiest and especially Hank Azaria providing great support in a tale of a gay couple meeting their future in-laws, an ultra-conservative politician and his wife. Lots of laughs, and a lesson about what really makes a family.

I bought this shortly before Robin Williams untimely death. It had been on my get in Blu ray list for a long time .what can I say it is a very timeless movie. and even though learning about his death brings a great sadness, I can watch this anytime for a good laugh. " Martha Graham Martha Graham flossy flossy."......etc... lol.

This was such a fun movie to watch, between the characters played by Williams and Lane I couldn't stop laughing. It definitely felt like there was a political element to it, and as it turned out it was from a presidential election year. With that aside, it's definitely a movie I can watch over and over.

FANTASTIC AND VERY FUNNY MOVIE. GREAT MUSICAL, WICKET FUNNY, GREAT TALENT FROM THE BEGGINING TO THE END. IF YOU LIKED MRS DOUBTFIRE YOU'LL PROBABLY ALSO LOVE THIS ONE , EXCEPT IS FOR ADULT VIEW BECAUSE OF THE SUBJECT OF TWO VERY FUNNY G GUYS. After starting a large blu ray collection of classics and fodder alike, my wife and I were ecstatic to see Mike Nichols' classic movie in the bargain bin at Best Buy. Comedy fans won't be disappointed if they haven't caught this classic film displaying Robin Williams and Nathan Lane at the height of their careers.
