I'm a long time Maiden fan so I might be a bit biased on my review. It has been a while since they have released an album so I was looking forward to 'The Book Of Souls'. It didn't disappoint! Over 90 minutes of musical goodness. The sound is definitely Maiden as you can hear their signature style embedded in the music but have also expanded their range in a good way. They play in drop D tuning (for the first time ever I believe) and more piano work in the 18 min epic song, 'Empire Of The Clouds'. If you are a Maiden fan, I recommend this album. If you have never listened to them, this album would be a great beginning!

I'm a lifelong Maiden fan and was so excited about this double cd. I went to the store right after opening to purchase the deluxe edition. I popped it in the cd player in the parking lot and listened to it all day. I'm still listening to it. They are still one of the best bands of all time and haven't lost their edge. The solos are amazing! This is just great. Iron Maiden is one of the few bands who have stayed true to their music. Bruce tells a story in every song better than any lead vocalist in the world. The music is timeless. It's so refreshing to listen to something new by people with skill and talent.

Iron Maiden have released another masterpiece. This album continues with the style they have followed since Bruce and Adrian rejoined the band in 2000. Some fans miss the shorter, faster, harder tracks more common on the early releases and I do also. However, I am more than happy with the music Iron Maiden are making now. They are heading in a progressive metal direction. The songs are longer. The arrangements are more complex. The albums continue to reveal new items with every listen. Empire of the Clouds is my favorite track on the album.

A double album that doesn't have any filler. You can listen to every track on it and it does not disappoint. It's by far Maiden's best album in years. The fact that they have outdone themselves this late in their career is amazing. I'm sure some fans have given up on them years ago, but this album is worth picking up and deserves multiple listens.

the deluxe version of the cd is awesome full size pages for the artwork, lyrics and liner notes all around great cd enjoy seeing more song writing collaberations between gers/murray/dickinson/smith/harris than just relying on mr harris alone - even though steve has written most of maidens greatest hits. the red and the black is another harris masterpiece Up the Irons...still going in the year 2015 if you get a chance- check out the video for the song speed of light

Saw they had a new release, picked it up and was reminded what great metal musicians these guys are..played for all my twenty something's staff and even they were impressed and enjoyed...you won't be disappointed..and enjoyed the "book" version and nice size pics of artwork and Eddie...for those in the know...

I run to Best buy right after work last Friday, Nov.11. to get this album. When I entered Best Buy, I was disappointed at first, because they said that the album was sold out at their location. Though I new that I could buy it later, I wanted to have it that day. Thank God, they found a copy for me. This double album proved one more time that iron Maiden can still create great music. Now I can't wait for their World tour 2016.

Iron Maiden has never stop surprising its fans with remarkable songwriting and musicianship. The Book of Souls is the latest of their brilliant work that still appeals to the new generation of metalheads and rockers, which many of the bands from around the same era could not do. The Book of Souls is a highly recommended album to those who are still into the classic heavy metal that once dominated our culture endlessly.

While I enjoyed the last two albums with their prog-ish leaning long songs, Book Of Souls is on a whole different level! This could be the follow up to the classic Powerslave. The deluxe packaging is good for this release. (Though not quite as nice as the new David Gilmour set.) Iron Maiden is bigger now than ever, listen and hear why.

just when I thought they couldn't get any better than The Final Frontier, they make the come-back of their career with an actual double-album of some of the longest songs of their entire career. after 35 years, Maiden still have not lost any of their relentless power with some solid songwriting and flawless production to match.

Maiden went back and grabbed some ideas of what made Powerslave great. The Book of souls and Empire of the clouds are epic songs in the way Rime of the ancient mariner and Seventh son also were for their albums. Tears of a clown, the red and the black, shadows of the valley are all songs we will soon add to their greatest hits. All in all the CD is worth the price especially for any Maiden fan, plus the art work for this CD is reminiscent to the old days of Derek Riggs' artwork...

Iron maiden seems to have returned with their latest CD, "Book of Souls". The CD have lots of great songs including " If Eternity Should Fail", "Speed of Light", and the 18 minute opus "Empire of the Clouds". Fans will surely enjoy listening to this CD and probably can't wait to see them live again.

Been riding on the Maiden wagon for a long time now. My first live experience with the band was back when I went to see the Powerslave Tour. Loudest show I'd ever seen. The new album is everything you'd want from the band. Their style is very familiar and though they will mix it up and try new varients, they, like AC/DC, always come up with new music that meets the fan's expetations in sound and style. This album is no exception. Recommended.

I know we still have about 3 months left in the year, but I highly doubt there will be a better album releases. I absolutely love this album with the exception of one song, Valley of the shadows. I have been listening to this religiously since it came out and I love it just as much.

Iron Maiden is the greatest heavy metal band of all time. They have been releasing albums for 30 years. This ranks with their best. From the single, Speed of Light to the epic Empire of Clouds, the classic Maiden sound is there. My favorite track is tears of A Clown.

What can I say! Iron Maiden at their finest. This album is one of their best and will stand the test of time. The drumming is awesome and the guitar riffs are classic Maiden. Bruce tops it off with killer vocals!
