Slow, boring, and completely unrealistic

A drunkard of an inattentive single father runs a motel in seemingly the middle of nowhere. His only son would rather live with his mother in Florida and schemes to find a way to get to her. Evil deeds and plots ensue but develop very slowly through the movie. Things are done that aren't something a child would do, so it's also extremely unrealistic. The whole time watching you will be wondering why the heck you're watching this. At the end - you will kick yourself for wasting time and money on this.

Not a lot happens in this film (at least in the first half), but there is growing sense of menace that became rather chilling as it neared it's end. I'm looking forward to the sequels since the filmmakers laid an impressive foundation for future editions. This is not another "Bad Seed" knock-off like the (ridiculous) The Orphan; based on what I've read about the childhoods of serial/mass murders, this film appears pretty accurate. Not for those who expect a horror film to have lots of jump scares, because it's actually more of a dark, psychological drama with horror elements.

The movie is really dark and creepy as we see a young boy going through his daily routine at a run down mountain resort his father runs. With his mother gone and his father a drunk the boy is left to fend for him self. As the story goes on we start to realize we may be seeing the early makings of a serial killer. Strong performances and a tense script make this one to check out.

This movies is a great look at mental illness, children, and what can happen when the two combine and are allowed to fester and grow. Along with Goodnight Mommy I can say kids are truly scary again!

The Boy tells the story of a boy coming into his own and finding his true self. I wanted it to be better but still, but still i really like the attempt and the story they did tell was good.

This slow pushing film really draws out the line from where you start with the characters in the film to where you leave them. Extremely well acted, it keeps you unsure through the film of exactly where it was going to turn. Not so much a horror at it's face, as it is a psychological drama/ thriller. But at it's core, it is a horror movie. It is truly scary where the characters go, and that it's not a fantasy. It was an interesting watch, that i'll go back to again in the future.

A good but slow moving indie film. Definitely worth watching as long as you are not expecting fast paced horror.

Boy, is this creepy! [sorry, couldn't resist doing that] In the making of segment of the extras, the creators say that this is part one of a trilogy about the making of a serial killer. The Boy of the title is played by a gifted natural actor Jared Breeze, keep your eye out for him, he's amazing The film builds it's tensions slowly and very quietly.
