Not the ending I expected. But if it had ended any differently, it wouldn't have been as powerful. When movies are made about the Holocaust, the only way to do it is to be honest about what really happened. That way the movie is appreciated no matter how shocking the scenes. Unbelievable things happened during this time and people need to know how awful it really was.

I heard about this movie from my sister who is a teacher. She told me if I ever get a chance to see it, by all means go and see it. Well, about a week later, I was in Best Buy just looking around and there IT was for $3.99. I could NOT pass it by, I watched it that evening and wow it was quite a movie. Just remember to have a box of tissues next to you!

Son of a German Commandant develops a friendship with a boy who is a resident of the death camp. The German son persists in his friendship even after he has been forbidden to do so, by visiting his friend at the wire on the outskirts of the camp. His innocence prevents him from understanding the purpose of the camp and thus the reasons for his father's attempts to keep them apart. His care for his friend prevails over his parents' admonitions, illustrating the power of friendship. A twist ending will shock you.

I purchased this video online through my local Best Buy store (Rockford, IL). It was supposed to be in the $5 bin, but with my Elite status shipping was free and I was able to buy for $4.99 via the website anyway! I've seen this movie before and if you're into World War II, the Holocaust, etc., then this is a movie you have to see!

I had been looking for this DVD for a while. No stores had them is stock and most could not get them even online. I was on Best Buy's website and just happen to check. They had the DVD in stock, it was waiting for me at the service desk when I arrived at the Blaine, MN store. Plus, Best Buy was the lowest cost of all the stores and it was Blu-ray!

Great movie unfortunately the topic is very painful but realistic as it actually happened during World War II. A lot of lessons learned that you don't have to be family or blood related to truly love. Sometimes the front of a stranger offers you more kindness and compassion

Hiding the truth was very well organized. I call it organized crime. People did not know what rely was happening. people by nature want to be good like the child who wanted to see that what his family was doing was good. when someone has to hide activities most likely they are wrong activities.

One of those what if's, rather than an historically accurate presentation. Two young boys, one a German who's father is commandant of a concentration camp; the other a young Jewish boy, a prisoner in the camp. The boys develop an 'odd' friendship from different sides of the fence...with tragic consequences for the boys and a cold wakeup call to the German boys parents. Over-all, though not historically accurate, I found it worth the watch.

Loved this Deal that was going on, during this purchase 1st off, which caused MI to to even go about even purchasing these movies in the end. Awesome price for a decent movie that included ULTRAVIOLET AS WELL. . :) loved it. Need this, more often, would purchase more movies than. Thanks

This is an excellent film. It's a "must see" imho. This is incredible and incredibly sad. I honestly don't know about the accuracy, but it doesn't seem far-fetched. It's not for the faint of heart, if you have a heart, you will cry. Very reminiscent of "Schindler's List."

Great movie. I already had this movie but I thought that my sister would like it as well. I bought it for her and I'm sure that she will like it also. It has a good story line and all I have to say is be careful when it comes to how you treat people.

The sale price was amazing so I bought it and it is no wonder why it swept the Oscars to hear that it came out. Excellent movie spikedespite its sadness as it is a period piece taken place during the time of the holocaust

I loved this movie soo much. I had watched it back when I was in school and was very happy when I found that my local favorite store had it available. As soon as I got it I knew I had to get. Thank you Best Buy:)

Well done movie with a compelling story. There are a number of things that make it a must-see film. Among those is the vivid illustration of the difference between what is reported as truth and the ugly reality.

This movie should be seen by older children and adults as it is a sad story and small children may not understand the meaning . on the other hand, I feel that this movie has a deep message for the entire world.

This DVD about a child of a German officer and his relationship with another child in a concentration camp during the Holocaust--it was very insightful with a surprising, even shocking, ending.

It is a great film that shows a child's perspective on one of the worst events of human history. Also nice to see more complex German characters than just a one dimensional caricature of a villain.

This is such a heartfelt movie. It shows friendship to an extreme and I love it. My family and friends all love this movie. It takes such sad truths about the holocaust and puts it into a fictional story.

I was so engrossed with this film! The characters were so well developed you could feel for ALL of them! You will NOT be disappointed with this movie! It will definitely make you PAUSE and THINK!!

I enjoy watching old time movies that present a story around a certain time period in history, especially in the war time era. The portrayal is real and interesting to learn from.
