The Bugaloos was a Saturday Morning live action tv show presented by Sid & Marty Krofft (Land of the Lost, HR Puf n Stuff). While the actress that portrays Benita Bizarre looks like the same actress that portrays Witchie Poo (As a kid I thought they were the same) Martha Raye portrayed Benita (Billie Hayes played Witchie Poo). The Bugaloos are 4 bugs that sing songs throughout the program and Benita, who wants to be a star with her own songs that always screech and destroy a local DJ's equipment; trys to thwart, capture or switch places with them. Benita is jealous of the bugaloos who look and sound great (at least compared to Benita). As an adult I think Benita's music sounds pretty good, but she's the "bad guy" in the program so she is never portrayed as a good singer. Joy is the only female of the 4 bugaloos. I remember having a crush on her, as I'm sure every kid did. She wore the skimpiest costume allowed for 1970's kid's programs. Like so many shows of the 1970's, this show was about teaching lessons and singing songs. This group is British and even mentions this show takes place in Britian in the very first episode. I would recommend this to any child under 7. They would get a kick out of it.
