This movie, although older, still rings true. It's funny, poignant and sad all rolled up into one.

I saw this movie in 1977, it is fun, sad and raunchy all rolled into one. Read the book by former policeman Joseph Wambaugh first, you will enjoy the movie character development much more, then you could put in a 2 hour movie. Wambaugh usually writes much more serious novels such as "The Onion Field". I believe this is the only humorous novel he wrote. Charles Durning does a great job in the movie.

Ribald police flick directed by Robert Aldrich. Not a complete success but gets boost if one's an Aldrich fan.

A Good movie but not as good as the book. Not enough development of the cops or the people they come in contact with.

I remember this movie and was glad it was available, however, the book was much more worthy to read.
