Judy isn’t Kansas anymore, or OZ for that matter. It’s 1945 New York City. Romance is in the air, and it all starts with a chance meeting on the street with a serviceman on a 48 hour leave. Vincente Minnelli brought out the best in Judy Garland. Together they made some great stuff like, Meet Me in St. Louis, The Clock, Till the Clouds Roll By, The Pirate, and Liza Minnelli. There’s a scene at a luncheonette with a woman at the counter. She looked so much like Angela Lansbury I had to Google it. Turns out to be Moyna MacGill, who happens to be Angela Lansbury’s mother. A magical moment, in a magical movie.
