i agree with the other re-viewer i was thrilled to see they remade the day the earth stood still. along time coming since 1951. I have to say i was really disappointed in the story line. They didn't use or show the robot nearly enough, keanu's acting as usual was awful. the special effects were good. i could go on but you get the picture. I must say i will go buy the 3 disc set just to get the free gort robot a 19.99 value. another plus to the 3 disc set is it includes the 1951 original feature, a must have, Wouldn't it be great if they colorized it like the did earth v.s. the flying saucers, and other ray harryhausen movies......thanks.

Again, another great movie that people set thier expectations too high for, and when it doesn't meet THIER standards, they rip it apart! This is the reason I try to write good informative reviews. My wife and I are tired of watching people rip apart great movies, I don't get it. People in this era of movies have just become way too critical! This was a great movie, I don't know what everybody was expecting, the movie of the century! My wife and I, and my sister, saw this in a packed theater, and we enjoyed it, as well as the people around us. (I can't speak for the whole theater, but the majority came out smiling.) This movie had great acting, great action and intrigue, and great special effects. We loved it! I say to critical people, lower your expectations a little bit, don't be so negative, and try to enjoy the movie! I recommend this movie, in the 3 disc SE, which comes with the old one.

When I heard that Hollywood was going to do a remake of the 1951 Classic, The Day the Earth Stood Still, I was thrilled. 50 plus years have passed and the technology that Hollywood has now is so advanced. I thought that with current Special Effects and CGI that this is going to be a Blockbuster movie. Instead Keanu Reeves probably got paid 20 million dollars and Hollywood turned out a dud. This could have been a Blockbuster if Hollywood would have been more creative. It's worth watching once, that's it. But if you want this DVD for you collection, wait. It won't be long before this DVD is in the Bargain basement DVD bin at a store near you.
