Although it's a movie, they pull off enough humor and plot to leave viewers satisfied.

I don't like how the story reads like a diary, but otherwise it would be a good movie.

Excellent follow-up to the TV series

The premise of this movie follows the general theme of the Haruhi Suzumiya TV series (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya): what happens when the school's most unusual girl has reality-altering power? The issue here is she essentially wishes the events of the TV series never happened and it's up to the leading male character to set things straight. To really get into this film, it would probably be best for the new viewer to watch the TV series first. That will introduce not only the main characters but the important supporting characters as well as the subplots and main events the title character unknowingly wiped out in the movie! They're really a bizarre bunch of characters and for a while this show was all the rage -- about a decade back. Like the Suzumiya TV series, this movie was previously released by Bandai but unlike the TV series it was neverly widely distributed through stores or sold at Best Buy. The previous Blu ray release seemed to be in print for one day and then then turn up online for ridiculous prices on the used and secondary markets. Funimation has licensed-rescued this movie was well as other movies (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) for a new generation of fans to enjoy as well as older fans who missed out on these films the last time.
