Trent Reznor is at his best in this album. Classic Nine Inch Nails! This was the breakthrough CD to his more recent songs.

Bought this after being reminded of Woodstock 94's 20th anniversary. Still love it.

This is a very deep instrumental and lyrical set of songs. I like it, but not so much.

A Must Have

The supreme Nine Inch Nails experience. This album has it all and that is why it is the most hailed among the NIN library. Sure you may have heard "Closer" with its raunchy, hardcore beat and "Hurt" with its quiet resonance of artistic value. What makes "The Downward Spiral" so good is everything else. The powerful guitar of "Heresy" ,the machine-like robot beat behind "Reptile", and the up-and-down energy of "March of the Pigs". I have named a few, my personal favorites, but each song fills its place to form a larger theme. Weather you classify it as Industrial, Rock, Metal....it fits all of them in one way or another but it is powerful instumentally and lyrically...A Must Have!

A dark masterpiece

what's so dark about this album isn't just the lyrics but the history behind it as well it was recorded in the house where Sharon Tate was murdered by the Manson Family and this album is also mentioned in a journal belonging to one of the shooters involved in the columbine incident
