I don't know why, but I've loved this movie since I was a kid. Maybe it's because it's odd seeing Michael Keaton in a comedy. When you say "Michael Keaton", I automatically think of Batman.
This isn't the best movie in the world, but it's really cheesy 80s fun.

A side-splitting comedy about four mental patients: Michael Keaton as a habitual liar who has violent tendencies, Christopher Lloyd as an obsessive-compulsive who thinks he runs the hospital, Peter Boyle as a former advertising executive with a messiah complex who likes to take his clothes off, and Stephen Furst as catatonic couch potato. Against the wishes of the hospital administration, their compassionate doctor takes the four patients to New York City to watch a major league baseball game. When the van reaches the city, the doctor has to exit the van - with patients still inside - only to witness a murder committed by two corrupt cops. The doctor is attacked by the cops, leaving him hospitalized and unable to help his patients. The patients then find themselves framed for the murder. Now the patients have to not only act "sane" to prove their innocence, they also have to save the life of their doctor who is still a target of the two cops.
What makes this movie work is the relationship of the patients. It is so much fun watching Keaton, Lloyd, and Boyle bicker all the time about the littlest things. Boyle has a really funny scene in which he leaves the van while Lloyd tries to block him. Boyle then muscles his way past Lloyd, tells him that He shall have no false gods before Him, and finally he tells Lloyd to get out his way before calling him a seven-letter word. There might only be so much you can do with a catatonic character, but Furst is quite memorable. Even though the doctor must have the patience of a saint when dealing with them, he probably has a harder time suppressing a laugh. Quite simply, this is a movie that gets better every time you watch it.

I hadn't seen this film in quite awhile but have always enjoyed it when I have watched. When I saw this sitting in one of the local Best Buy stores I knew that sooner or later I was going to breakdown and buy it... and of course I did. The cast here is outstanding and the movie is quite good. Good writing and the fine performances make this one well worth watching!

This is one of those movies that kinda slipped through the cracks IMO. I watched this in the early 90s and thought it was hysterical even though it wasn't really a huge blockbuster of a movie. Regardless, this movie features a hoddle of great actors including Michael Keaton, Christopher Lloyd and the late great Peter Boyle. Highly recommend you pick it up and give it a shot. You won't regret it!

This underrated comedy classic has finally been resurrected for Blu-ray. And despite the low price tag and relatively inconspicuous placement in stores, the disc features solid picture and sound quality. I expected a marginal upgrade over the DVD, but this release is proof that someone out there cares about The Dream Team. And so should you. Now, let's see about some of those other Michael Keaton classics from the 80's still in need of some high-definition love.

I bought this for my parents, who love this movie. I haven't been able to find it anywhere, so I was happy to see it at Best Buy. It's kind of an homage to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest...just not as dark.

Dream Team is a awesome movie. Cool older movie with some big name stars. Michael Keaton, Christopher Lloyd and Peter Boyle.
They along with Stephan Furst's character escape from a mental institution for a day on the town and get in to all kinds of hijinks.
Very very funny. All-star cast as well.

This is an overlooked 80s movie that is pretty entertaining. Sort of a combination of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest & a road trip/buddy movie. It had been pretty hard to find.

Michael Keaton was great in the 80s. This movie is very funny, although a bit unrealistic, as were a lot of 80s movies. But that’s part of the charm.

The movie starts immediately when you load the disc. It looks and sounds fine. It says there's a trailer in the special features but there's no way to access it; which is a shame because I remember I thought it was pretty funny. Hitting the menu or pop up menu buttons did nothing except bring up the "don't" icon. It wouldn't even let me select it from the title list.
Otherwise, solid disc.

This movie is very similar to Tom Hanks' "The Burbs" in that it's not a movie that everyone has seen or is as familiar with, but the cast is excellent and Keaton is hilarious. It holds up very well.

The movie has aged since I saw it last but still reasonably funny. The blu ray transfer is ok at best and the audio is only 2 channel.

The idea of 4 lunatics turned loose on NYC is a theme with possibilities. This movie, anchored by the professionalism of Michael Keaton, Christopher Lloyd and the late Peter Boyle, works. I recommend seeing this 1989 flick.

This movie is pretty good. It is a Keaton classic, though not on par with gems such as Mr. Mom, Gung-ho, or Beetlejuice.

I love this movie. Great cameos and really funny. I remember when this first came out and it was hysterical; still is. Whenever I hear "hit the road Jack" I always think of this movie!!!
