Movie based on a short story, although not enough story to make a movie. Quality cast misfires, another "swing-and-a-miss" for Tom Hardy.

Somewhat weak on the plot and storyline. One viewing is enough.

Love this movie... It 's not a gangster movie but deals with criminal elements in an East Coast town, very realistic and believable. If you haven't seen Tom Hardy lately other than in the current Mad Max movie, this and The Revenant are ones to see.. his range is amazing. All great actors - James Gandolfini, Nooni Rapace (from The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo) and the entire cast. Twists and suspense til the end, I showed this to my parents and they both loved it. Rated R for some language and violence, but nothing extreme. Bargain price and a Digital HD copy, too!

"The Drop" is a slow burn, and it builds beautifully to its shocking climax. The acting is first rate. The film can almost rank up there with some of the best crime dramas. Tom Hardy delivers an almost bravura Brando type performance, and James Gandolfini gives us everything we loved about him. Well worth catching.

Wasn't sure what to expect when I bought The Drop. I am a big fan of the writer and enjoyed his other books that were adapted into movies. This had a great mixture of suspense and mystery! Blu-ray had a great picture too!

Tom Hardy and Gandolfini are amazing in this movie. You will not be disappointed in the movie plot or the performances.
