From the reviews that I read, I agree with some and disagree with others. This is a completely honest review of this game, I am no fan boy of The Elder Scrolls or anything, I was very skeptical about buying this game....good thing I bought this. From some of the negative reviews I have read, I have seen a MW3 fan boy who likes copy and paste games and a person who complains about the menus because he/she has't played a Elder Scrolls game.( This isn't a MMO there shouldn't be any hotbars because that would be completely stupid and taking away from what Elder Scrolls is.# Now for my review.
The graphics on this game are amazing. That is really all i can say about them, the textures and environments are very detailed and such. Also if you want to improve them just get a Mod that a person has made to improve textures and such for even a greater game experience.#Mods are like Addons that are in WoW)
The Storyline, as far as I have played is excedeing of what I expected, the game takes place 200 years after Oblivion. You get filled on what hapens in game so I won't spoil anything.
Gameplay, what can I say, it is by far the best in any of the Elder Scrolls games I have played. Combat has been improved greatly since Oblivion.
All in all, you should definitely buy this game, it is worth your $60 because of the vast amount of gameplay there is plus expansions.

All I heard about was how great this game was, now I am out 30 bucks. I thought the start was ok but the graphics were so old. When it came to creating your character it was hard and not good options. I want my money back.

This game is absolutely stunning. I spent about 100 hours or so on Oblivion, and will probably spend more in this game world when it's all said and done. The graphics detector did a nice job (I have a high end system purchased last February and this is the best looking game I've seen yet) and the combat controls are better than they have been in past games, yet still kind of wonky.
For people complaining about the menu system I have my doubts that they've played any of the past games. This is easily the cleanest menu yet, and once you get used to it it's far simpler than oblivion's mess of a menu. Recipes and crafting are much easier to figure out in this game than the past games as well, and they actually are fairly fun and useful.
The biggest selling point for me by far is the feel of "GTA" in a fantasy world. Aside from the "set up" sequence you can do whatever you want in this game. Go anywhere on the map, see anything you want, do a quest, don't do a quest, you can literaly just walk around for 10 hours if that's your sort of thing (although you'd surely encounter something wanting to do you harm at some point).
The special skills menu leaves something to be desired, althogugh the constellation set-up is kind of cool. It's just hard to map out where you want to take your character as that menu system is frustrating to navigate.
Overall this is one of the best games of this genre that I've ever seen.

I've played a few Bethesda games in my time and by far this seems to be the least glitchy out of all of them. I've played for several days now and am using no mods and the game hasn't crashed once. There are defenitely a few things that could have been better such as the blocky faces and weirded out looking elves. I thought elves were supposed to be hot looking, lol. (this was the reason for rating the graphics as I did. They could have done better at NPC detail. Definitely not the worst I've seen however.) The storyline is so extensive that you can easily forget what quest your working on. The map is HUGE which is awesome. I have to agree with another reviewer. The way you access the controls seems like it was made for a console game. They could have done way better. I am constantly having to bring up the menu to switch out items. The positive side of the game is that they still designed it to be open ended and the modders are already working hard at correcting some of the annoying aspects of the game. The main thing that really annoys me is that you cant seem to carry much. I am always wanting to carry more, I'm a horder. You need your own house early on in the game.

As someone who has played all TES games in the series I can confidently say this game exceeds expecatations. Game play is easy and flawless. Unlike some that I've read thru other gameboards having problems, the same has not held true for me. No crashes but has locked up twice during play. The storyline is great in the main quest and there are lots of side job/quests to fill hours of entertaining adventures. The new game engine is good too. Better still is the improvement in the graphics and to a lesser degree the background soundtrack. Bethesda has outdone itself with Skyrim far exceeding its Oblivion successes. And winning game of the year from PC Gamer, VGA's, etc is proof that this game is the best one to come out in years. A true masterpiece! If you like exciting and a plethora of storylines to follow this is the game for you.

Honestly, I was late into the Skyrim craze since I wasn't a fan of the other Elder Scrolls games. But i rented it from Redbox to try out and ended up buying it! This game is so engaging and flexible enough to suit any playstyle. Like to adventure and explore? Plenty of that! Like to kill big things with uber-weapons? Got it! I actually ended up getting two of my roommates totally addicted just from them watching me play.
The graphics are gorgeous, as you'd expect with a single player RPG. You have both first- and third-person views depending on your preference. If you get the PC version there are tons of mods out there to make it easier to customize the game to you. (Honestly I recommend PC over the console versions. Mods = free expansions) Combat is as challenging as you want it to be (or not) with tons of different weapons and styles.
The flexible gameplay is what makes it work for anyone. Even if you are more of a Sims person vs COD, there's something for everyone in Skyrim.

I love the graphics, expecially the facial features and expressions. I love the look of the monsters and the details ( I hate the scary, clicking and squishiness of the spiders, however. icky. - and my nephew, who is terrified of spiders, cannot even play the game due to them.) I love the free play that allows me to just meander as I please. I prefer the intellectual interaction over the fighting and, unlike most games, I am able to customize my playing experience to kill quickly and still play the game without it affecting anything else. If I preferred the fighting, I could play with a much higher difficulty - but I don't. I love the questing and the ability to just meander/wander if I am sick of questing. I am already on my third time through the game. Once as an Imperial Warrior, second time I was a Khajiit thief, and now I am a high elf mage with a wicked bow capability I am building to sneak and dispatch enemies quietly.

Great game, great story. There is so much to do. Love, love, love this game. With that said, it does get old after 70+ hours of play time, i dont even want to finish my character, as the game is no challenge anymore. Dont let that scare you away, as i havent even been doing the main quest. Just like 100+ side missions.
Lots of mods to add to the visuals, as well. GET SKYRIM NOW!!!

The game itself is amazing, the world is huge and there are endless things to do in it. The characters in the game will randomly spawn you new quests as you play based on previous things you do in the game. All of the best guilds have returned for this game, and are better then ever.
Graphics are absolutely beautiful as is the voice acting.
I believe that this game is a definate improvement over Oblivion, and is more back to what Morrowind was, which many would say is a great thing.
With over 400 hours of gameplay. I highly recommend it.

Skyrim is just the best video game I have ever played. The graphics and storyline are beyond awesome. Beware though. To experience the highest graphics settings, Ultra, you will need a serious graphics card to run Skyrim at the highest settings. Luckily, I was in the market for a new laptop. I had to send one HP dv7 laptop back because it only ran it am Medium even though I bought the top discrete graphics card they offered. I eventually bought an Asus G74SX-AH1 with the 3Gb Nvidia GeForce GTX560M card for about $1440, two hundred dollars more than the HP. I learned the hard way to always know the model number of the graphics card and specifically look up if it can play the newest game before purchase. Higher graphics card model numbers DO NOT mean that they have higher capability. I found this link useful to compare high end graphics cards: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I had to look around to find a laptop within my budget that could play Skyrim on its highest graphics settings. Finding a capable desktop would have been easier since most laptop graphics cards are part of their motherboard and not upgradeable later. You must have higher end hardware to play Skyrim at its full potential. The scenery is just beautiful. I'm hooked.

Having played Oblivian and Morrowind (and Elder Scrolls) I was hoping that Skyrim would show the same level of advancement and scope as its predecessors. It didn't. It was much better!! I'm already 80 hours into the game and I don't think I've made a dent in it. You can't ignore the side quests because they are just as interesting and engaging as the main plot. And the main plot is very interesting. The new way characters get experience and level up keeps you completely immersed in the story. I highly recommend this.

The amount of detail, thought and planning that went into every decision you can make, and how the world reacts to your choices not only in conversations and on quests, but your impromptu decisions about taking out an NPC, or your race choice, is just insane. I have no idea how they managed to fit such dense sub-plots into every corner of the game! Also, the graphics are just nuts. Water running down over some rocks, shimmers like water, this is not cartoon-land! There's no way to describe the difference between this game and your ever-popular MMO's out there right now. This is a must-play!

It's definitely a great game, especially visually. Storyline is good but the number of glitches can get very annoying. I'm sure the hardcore gamers don't complain about them but then again I think our younger generation have come to expect a less than perfect product and just take it in stride. Even with all the glitches and bugs I still enjoy it though. Wait for it to go on sale and it will definitely be worth the cost.

This is a must play. This game is huge. The environments are rich, the story line is well written, and the quests are numerous. Whether you play the story line, solve side quests, or just want to run around and kill things, you won't be disappointed. It is hard to find flaws in this game, but there are some. The video quality is nice, but without direct X 11 support, some environmental treatments are still flat, like vegetation, and the rocks are a little chunky. Hopefully this will be fixed with a later patch. If you are a dungeon crawler, going everywhere but the trail, you will get stuck now and again. The AI is a bit dim, but this can be a good thing, leading to some funny situations.
This game is optimized for use with a game pad controller. I recommend the Xbox pc controller, but as long as you have two thumb sticks, triggers and RB and LB you will do okay.
All in all this is a must have. Don't miss the best Elder Scrolls game to date. Oh and because of my reward zone earnings I got this game for just over $5 win!

I really haven't played an open world type game in a number of years. Skyrim is a beautiful game, the world is simply amazing. I wish the character models had a little more finesse and beauty to them, but they are adequate. If you hate being pigeon holed into a class, you'll enjoy the ability to level up any skill you want. There are some races better than others with skills, but you can buck the trend and be and be fine.
Some of the lower points of the game include a slightly strange interface that was clearly made for the console. It's not glaring, but conversation and inventory selection with a mouse can be a miss. The horse system in the game was poorly thought out. And while I love dragons, it's pretty strange to see them materialize out of no where for some random event. For their next game, I hope they will consider a living eco system, including wolves that behave less like monsters.
It's a great fantasy world full of crafting you don't have to do, spells and steel... skies the limit.

I'm just going to to brutally honest, I don't write reviews. I do however give credit where credit is due.
I bought the game because a friend told me it was good.
I remember thinking, "How good could it really be?" I've maxed out charactors on gear, dps, strength, magic, etc in games like World of Warcraft, Doom, and mostly every other dungeon crawl game I could get my hands on for the past 10 years. Let me tell you, it's very hard to impress me, I don't impress easily.
I bought and installed on my hand built clone computer, I won't bore you with details but it's exotic, to say the least.
No crazy movie to watch at the beginning, no fancy dramatic cinematoghrapghy, just what seems to be "you" in a movie..a very realistic movie.

Skyrim has a terrible interface and a bad menu/dialog system because it is made for consoles and not a pc. Even after modding your game to remove some of the problems with the interface the menu/dialog problems still excite where you character will not always choose what you tell him/her to pick.
Another problem with the game is it very Casual with no replay value. It quest and story is not as bad as Oblivion but at the same time is not as good as Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind.
The radiant story is all a lie. It nothing more then a tool to make you go back to guilds you have completed. Mainly adding a mob to kill here or an item to steal there. Which you will notice after you have killed the same person for the 20th time.
Graphics are decent but nothing as what they should be. Which is no suprise this was made for the 360 then ported over to all other system.
Combat has been changed up so you can attack with your off hand even if your offhand is a shield. Which is nice but pointless as you can find two handed weapons or stealth attacks are pretty much an instant kill for almost everything. Dragon are a real challenge to fight which is good but sad as they will not fall out of the sky like the should. Which means you are forced to be leveling up magic or archery to do 90% if not 100% of the damage to kill them.
Magic has been changed so you can not spam spells and your spells do not really get any stronger no matter what level you are in the skill. Which puts it at a big dissavantage. Cause melee and archery will scale with your level. Spells come in two forms, chanelled spells which are melee range effective and drains your mana while the spell is active. Second form is range spell costing a good ammount of mana as you spend 2 - 3 seconds casting the spell for a bigger longer range effect.
With spells not scaling as you level up their schools of magic. You are forced to stick talent points into the schools to give the spells a minior buff at best.
The talent system really makes the game unbalance. Which means one playstyle will be unkillable while another playstyle will be weak and very gimp.
Revamping of crafting was a great idea and one of the few good things about this game.
Bottom line is. It not for hardcore elderscroll fans. It more for people who have never heard of elderscrolls or have only played oblivion.
