Plenty of Action...Not much Character Development.

Great movie! Very entertaining!denzel at his best.

Coming off Training Day one had to wonder not if, but when, the team of director Antoine Fuqua and actor Denzel Washington would team again. The Equalizer is that film and while not quite reaching the level of Training Day they still show that a great watch and good finished product is almost always in store when they team up to do a film. Every actor seems to be on their A game with Chloe Moretz getting the most praise, commonly, for her performance, although all the actors seem to give it their all here, no one is just collecting a paycheck and sleepwalking through this one. The plot is somewhat been there done that with the age old trope of aging hitman/military/police/etc. pulled back into the life that they left behind. Overall though the film stays entertaining and original enough that it doesn't sidetrack the finished product.

Years ago one of my favorite TV series was The Equalizer. This DVD is apparently a redo of that series as a single movie, in which, the equalizer helped several underdogs overcome various obstacles. It invoked a full range of emotions including anger, fear, hatred, disgust, care, genuine concern for others and moving compassion. It was both entertaining and gratifying to see those that willfully used and abused others for their own selfish gain literally taken out, whereby the underdog could succeed and/or receive justice.

Probably the one of the two series movies! The young lady and Denzel on screen together makes the movie. Especially, the cafe scene where he tells her she can do anything! Play that part back all the time! Get this movie! You can’t go wrong on any movie Denzel Washington in it! For real! He is the man forever!

Another fine effort by Denzel Washington, somewhat in the vein of " A Man on Fire". If you didn't like that one, you probably won't like this one. If you did like it, you're in for a treat. He plays the everyman, trying to get by with a normal job, living a simple normal life. Until he feels obligated to help a young girl working for, and being terrorized by the Russian mob. The rest is pure Denzel, doing what he does best. I loved the movie, as it tests the limits of my surround sound. Sit back and enjoy.

Wonderful movie and especially looks in4K! packaging. I was browsing in Best Buy and I saw The Equalizer. It was in a steelbook and in 4K. I love the steelbook. I bought it and came home and watched it. The story is Denzel Washington against the Russian mob. It is excellent inn 4K and and suspenseful. Looks amazing in 4K and the sound is fantastic as well.

I didn't know to expect from this film and was pleasantly surprised. I am biased, but I love that it was set in Boston. I was never a fan of the original series so I can't judge there but as a stand-alone this is a good film. The action is not believable but I wasn't expecting it to be. Video Quality = OUTSTANDING - top notch Audio Quality = OUTSTANDING - top notch Extras = average Seeing and hearing this film makes me excited as to what 4K will offer as I think this is Blu Ray at it's very peak.

This brooding, moody remake of the classic TV series puts Denzel Washington in the role of Robert McCall (originally played on TV by Edward Woodward), a former CIA agent now living a peaceful life in Boston. But McCall springs into action when a friend is brutalized by mobsters, and soon finds himself in the sights of a hit man who is just as deadly as he is. Washington delivers a unique take on the character and his motivations, and the action quotient is just right. Definitely worth a look.

I've purchased several items from best buy like the bundle you had back in November before Black Friday Denon receiver with the Definitive ProCinema 600 home theatre speakers which I would like to get the Geeksquad out to help me set it up because they are still in the boxes . Home projects had to come first to prevent the dust from settling on my new systems. Now I will be purchasing a new Sony 4k 65" TV set to complete my Entertainment Center and a Samsung smart 3D player the BD-F7500.

Excellent, fast moving action movie. Denzel Washington is totally believable in the role of a former government assassin who just wants to live a quiet life. He hasn't recovered from the death of his beloved wife, but he tries. When he takes action following the violent beating of a young woman, he winds up using all his skills to great effect.

This movie was good from the very beginning to the very end; my son and I both enjoyed it immensely. I am so glad that I purchased it when I did. The premise of the film was so on point, that I watched it again the day after. These days, there really aren't too many movies worth seeing AND buying to keep for one's personal collection. However, this is one of few that is not only worthy of buying and keeping, but it will certainly stand the test of time in terms of quality movies.

this film had everything to offer, great cast and not to mention a great story line. Denzel Washington proved to be a really great Oscar worthy actor in this film. It really inspired me a lot! He went out of his way to help and correct things that were wrong, and made it better for so many people. helping people is the way to go nowadays, can't be too selfish in your actions. To do the right thing is the most honorable thing anyone can do nowadays. and being honest is the best policy.

Denzel Washington is one cool customer's best weapon in this movie. I already owned it on BluRay and purchased the movie again when it was released on 4K because of the update Sound enhancemnent and visuals. I was so enthralled with the movie that I honestly cant say I noticed or was aware of the difference between the two versions. That will have to happen during my fourth veiwing. Great Movie as is the sequel.

I watched this film at the theater and knew I needed to own it apon it's retail release. I'm at huge Denzel Washington fan, and like most of his movies, this one does not disappoint. Raw uncut intense action. It's your standard vengeance story where Denzel helps those who can't do it themselves. Not to ruin the story, but it's vastly graphic and gory. Great acting from Denzel. Hopefully there will be a sequel as this would be a 1st for Mr. Washington's Academy Award Winning career.

This is a must watch for Denzel fans! I must warn you though there are a few scenes with graphic violence, but it is not throughout the entire movie. I think they did a good job of not adding unnecessary violence and there were no graphic adult scenes that a lot of other movies have. The plot is excellent as well as the acting from Denzel and the supporting cast. There's not a lot more that I can say without spoiling the movie, other than watch it and you won't be disappointed!

One of Denzel's best! Amazing plot, well produced and great acting! This is a MUST SEE if you want an amazing action movie, that has a hint of vigilante to it, but tilting to a "batman" type flavor. Love seeing good guys protect normal people in society. Very good and think you're cheating yourself if you haven't seen this!

Being a huge fan of the original TV series, I just hoped the movie would do it justice. This did not disappoint in any way. A little different take on the Robert McCall from the TV series, but well done. Denzel embraces the role and the character and leaves you guessing where he learned all his tricks of his trade. Excellent cast and hope they have a sequel. I don't know if this is my favorite Denzel movie, but it ranks way up there. A movie I will watch many times over.

Awesome film that is one of Denzels best action roles. This film is one of the best action films I have ever seen and gets better the more I watch it. Everything from the story, deep characters and sinister main villain add up to make a terrific movie. I was so happy to be able to buy it in a steelbook version and it looks terrific!
