It's been quite a while since I've watched the original TV series, but the movie definitely lives up to the spirit of its predecessor with the excellent performance by Denzel Washington. Doing the right thing never looked so good and felt so right. I only hope there will one day be a series of films because there is plenty left open after this chapter closed. Great film for the vengeance/do-gooder crowd.

Revenge movie,I love them all. This movie is one of my top movies from the 2014. Denzel Washington is also a great actor from the last 20 years or so. He's out to take the bad guys down,by making some bad things done to good people and making them right. This movie is non stop action from beginning to end. I certainly love it.The video quality is excellent, as is the audio quality.

This is a great if violent movie--and I am for the record NOT a Denzel Washington fan. I saw it in the theater with my Dad, and liked it enough to buy it on Blu-ray. I bought this one because even thought it didn't come with my preferred BluRay/DVD/Digital copy combination, the blu ray did come with the digital copy. Both are terrific looking and I enjoyed them more than seeing it in the theater.

Denzel protays himself as an ordinary Home Depot worker, with no concerns but to live his life in peace. His concerns for other people make this movie a must see. There is always some form of action, that you never know what he is going to do the the bad guys. His ability to oversee what his plan will be and then act on it, makes this movie an excellent action pack thriller for anyone to enjoy.

In one of the more recent films, Denzel Washington makes for a interesting and unique action based character for this movie. Also, one of the very few movies that is based on a TV series that is actually good. This is a film that shows what can be done when talented people work on a movie, who actually care about quality and not trrying to appeal to the massess.

Once again Denzel never fails to give an outstanding performance in this action movie where he corrects the wrongs of the bad people in the community and saves the live of the good. This film is awesome from start to finish. And no it's not emotional it's just heart warming to see someone putting others in front of himself and not caring about his lives but only theirs. Kudos Mr. Washington

An effective thriller, well written and acted. A bit long, but worth the commitment, as none of the 136 minutes seemingly deserved to be cut. Moved a bit slowly at times, but effective character development takes time. Corrupt cops, sympathetic ladies of the evening, Russian mobsters, and a stunning performance from Denzel, complete with novel use of power tools. I give it a 4 simply because some of the plot elements will seem familiar (think Eastern Promises and Man on Fire). The ending sets this up for a sequel or two, and I hope it becomes a trilogy as I'd watch this McCall in action again.

Denzel Washington plays a great role in this wild movie. He’s here to stand up for the exploited and oppressed and boy foes he ever!!! I’m looking forward to watching his first ever sequel performance in The Equalizer 2!! If it’s anything like the first, I’d say go for the trilogy! Great movie!

Great movie on the depiction of the original tv series the equalizer, its a lot more violent and fast paced, i like Denzel Washing performance, i haven't seen the second equalizer movie with Denzel yet but heard it was good, i would pick this one up you wont be disappointed.

The saying, "with great power comes great responsibility" is constant in your mind while watching this movie. Truly an awesome message of being the best most absolute genuine person you can be to all those around you. I'm sure we're not retired spies trained to do incredible things with certain objects, but we can be the kind and honorable fellow who helps those in need.

This film gives us shades of Denzel Washington's performances in films like "Man on Fire" and "Deja Vu" in the 1990s, which showcased him at his best? Plot: Robert McCall's (Denzel Washington) mysterious past is awakened when he sees the helpless around him brutalized. Even though he is trying to live a quiet life in retail, he can not stand idly by as his new friends are in danger. Armed with hidden offensive skills he serves up some vengeance! I had originally picked up "The Equalizer 2" when it was part of Best Buy's Deal of the Day and I really enjoyed it that I ended up picking up "The Equalizer". This movie in 4K looks great and the action scenes are good too - I highly recommend giving this movie a try.

A pretty straight formula movie, but Denzel Washington takes it the next step and provides a very good performance. There was plenty of action, but some of the violence was very graphic. Although not reference quality, the video and audio rank very well for a Blu-ray edition. And while there are not an above average number of extras, there are several HD special features worth looking at. Denzel puts enough extra into the film to make it library worth to purchase.

This was a very good movie, I hope that there are some sequels to the franchise. Having been a fan of the television series years ago, I am pleased that he, (Denzel Washington), didn't jack it all up. Actually he did rather well. There could be a couple more movies in the series, but they will need to be well done, and not be cheaply written. A lot of potential there.

I'm a sucker for steelbook packaging, which seems to be dwindling at the Best Buy stores. I saw this one at a lowered price and picked it up. Good movie seen in the theaters. The ending reminded me of a slasher flick in reverse, with Denzel using what a bad guy in such a movie would use while trapped in a hardware store. I barely remember The Equalizer from the 80s TV lineup (CBS, I believe) but from what I do remember this seems faithful to the basis of the character. Strap in for a slow burn ride on this one.

Who doesn't like two time Oscar winner Denzel Washington? This is another great action movie for him and a character I hope we are going to see more of. Paired up with the director from Training Days this is like Denzel as Batman without the suit. It drags just a little compared to training day, but I really liked it and hope to see the next version coming soon.

For me, the sign of an excellent movie is the ability to enjoy multiple viewings. First, have been a huge fan of the original Equalizer TV show. Second, a huge Denzel Washington fan from the beginnings of his movie career to present. What really made this purchase were the extras. The inside views and actor interviews really complimented an already excellent film.

This is a nice, unique-looking SteelBook for The Equalizer. Although I've already seen the movie [and enjoyed it], I picked this up to add to my home media collection. The Equalizer is an excellent action flick with Denzel Washington so if you're a [SteelBook] collector and a fan of Denzel, this is a good purchase.

Although the movie starts a little slow, it's necessary to explain the characters. You must know the characters, especially Denzel Washington's character, to understand why he does the things he does. We've already watched the movie twice and caught new little things we'd missed the first time through. We plan on watching this great character-based movie again.
