I was somewhat reluctant to see this movie, having fond memories of the television show on which it was based. Seeing that one of the co-creators of the original was on board as a producer finally tipped the scales, but in spite of that, other than the name of the main character and a partial premise, this movie isn't really an update, but a whole different animal altogether. Don't get me wrong, it's a good film, but I missed some of the panache of the TV show. Much like The Fugitive, it's a worthy remake of a similar premise, and recommended on that basis.

If you like Denzel Washington's action movies, you will love this one. Not only is the story imaginative, and Denzel's character sympathetic and noble, but the action (fight) scenes are awesome, and the ending is surprising and very satisfying. Better than many other movies of the same genre, this one is worth owning, so you can watch it over and over again.

This movie is so interesting and played out well in terms of what it was excepted to be...but it turns out this was better then excepted. Wonderful performance by Mister Washington again, but the supporting case was pretty good as well. Get this movie...you won't be disappointed...get it enjoy the action and good feeling that there are good people out there.

Good story, but nothing like the original series.. Denzel as always is great, and the movie is very entertaining, and pulls you in throughout the movie. If you've seen the original series you may have a tough time letting go of the original character.. Robert McCall. The movie as a whole was enjoyable to watch, I just had a tough time with the character as I knew him, and thought the show could have been given a different title, but for what it was.. I enjoyed it, and had to add it to my collection of Denzel movies..

Absolutely loved this movie. Denzel does a fantastic performance in spite of the fact that he's no longer a spring chicken. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but some good 'old butt kicking. Spoiler alert: I'd like the fact that in the end he needs help to "finish" the job. Makes him more human. Thoroughly enjoyed this remake of the classic Equalizer.

Denzel Washington gives a typically strong performance (when does he not?), but the Equalizer is of the same quality as many other Denzel led thrillers: without him it would not be worthwhile, with him it's watchable, but nothing special. It lacks a spark to take it to the next level and is too serious to be all out fun like less serious action films

Washington's portrayal of Robert McCall ranks amongst his best performances, the actor brilliantly balancing a man who is markedly different from what he appears to be but who, at the same time, brings all of his positive characteristics to his violent side. He's a quintessential hero in the modern world, skilled at his craft but a man who would rather help a friend by encouraging them rather than simply destroying their enemies, something he will do, however, if the situation demands it. It's another excellent pairing between Washington and Fuqua

I am a huge Denzel Washington fan. At first I was not sure if I would enjoy this movie. Once I began watching it, I could not stop. The movie was full of action, drama and suspense. This has definitely become one of my favorites.

The Equalizer was a great action movie and Denzel delivers as a former agent seeking revenge. I highly recommend the film, but would stay away from this particular release. I am not a huge fan of Metalpaks, as they are not true Steelbooks. I only got this release for my collection, because I am such a huge fan of the film.

I was very surprised at how awesome this movie was. Knew that I wanted to watch it from the previews and was unsure how good it would be since it was based on a tv show. Densel Washington brought it to his performance again and shows what an awesome American actor he is. If you liked Man on Fire or Safehouse, you'll like this movie too.

I hesitate to say that I indeed identify with the character Robert in the movie as all too many of us aren't adequately inspired to defend those that are, by choice or circumstance, defenseless. That the hero also reads many of my favorite books should also clue viewers of what they might go to their bookstore or library for.

The added dimension of the OCD was brilliant as used here. Whether it was an attractive component of his entering this world of black ops problem solver or a result of it We hopefully find out in the sequel. Antoine Fuqua as usual is able to deliver both a sound visceral action movie but also deliver drawn out characters.

The movie was action packed and definitely had me on the edge of my seat. Denzel Washington is an amazing actor. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of action movies or thrillers or Denzel Washington. You won't be disappointed.

Antonie Fuqua is always good or great at delivering action. The fact that Denzel is at his usual greatness just adds to it. If you liked Man on Fire and The Book of Eli you will love this one. It takes the best parts of those movies, enhances them, and avoids some of their flaws.

Awesome... It's hard to think of what else to say, after watching Denzel Washington's performance in this film. The brutality that his character displays in the fight scenes is incredible, and the emotion that his character displays in some of the more quiet scenes is exceptional. A true Denzel fan will not pass up this film!!!

Only someone as talented as Denzel Washington could take a script as by-the-numbers as 'The Equalizer' and turn it into an interesting movie. While there's still much about the film I don't like, there's enough here to make it worth a look and almost all of that is provided by one of the best actors working in Hollywood today.

I loved this film, Denzel Washington has always been an excellent actor. In my opinion, this is among one of his best movies. I really look forward to seeing the second movie in this series. This is another movie I would recommend to everyone. I myself have seen it many times.

Denzel delivers another stunning portrayal of a serious specialist trying to reaquaint himself back to a regular life he has all but forgotten. Doing so, he is trust into a society were people turn a blind eye rather than doing the right thing. He decides to take a stand and stand up to those who take advantage of the innocent.

The Equalizer is a good action-packed movie. Denzel did a good job in this film. I like how they use his eyes to visualize how he was going to kill the Russian gangsters in the restaurant. This movie is one of the best movies Denzel has made. Can not wait to see the sequel next month.

Other than the "Judge" this was our favorite movie this year. My wife even loved it. Action plus !!! Reminded me of Death Wish, where the bad guys all meet their match. And given I live outside of Boston and it was filmed in Boston, what is there not to love ? I work in a very large warehouse and have recommended to everyone.
