I enjoyed the first Evil Within it reminded me of the first resident evil. It was tight corridors and absolute horror. Evil Within 2 is more like Silent Hill. You walk around an abandoned town with death at every corner. It's slightly open world so it encourages exploration. My only gripe is the emphasis on your character being in a machine. I wish it was just a place that you were stuck in. Beyond that it's a great game and an improvement on the first.

This keeps you on the edge of your seat. Always horrifying to play.

Sebastian is trapped in a matrix filled with zombie-like creatures and psychopaths. He has an arsenal of guns/crossbow and a lot of stealth moves. (he sucks at melee though) The game takes a semi open world approach with you exploring the town and taking on side missions when you find them. Its not as atmospheric as the 1st game, but it is still a fun ride.

This game absolutely Harkens to the old Silent Hill titles. I'm fact sometimes it Harkens back a little bit too much. I did not enjoy the heavy-handed stuck in the Animus storyline that Evil Within 2 comes with. However the gameplay and scares are abound. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Evil Within 2 just not so much the story line. I recommend this to fans of Resident Evil 4 and the Silent Hill series.

The original The Evil Within was a fun but flawed survival horror game. It was more of a giant quick time event and scripted scenes than game. The Evil Within 2 learns from all of the mistakes of the first game and creates a wholly engrossing experience that doesn't require any of the knowledge of the first game to play.

The game starts out fairly slow but definitely begins to pick up giving you time to adapt to the unorthodox controls. The Evil Within 2 has the best elements of other survival horror games such as Resident Evil and The Last of Us. The A.I. used for the enemies falls short but is made up for with diverse enemy classes. Not entirely a $60 game, if you can pick it up for $40 I would say it is worth it!

If you love survival horror games, this is a must. I liked the story, even though the idea of STEM makes no sense to me (why would putting a bunch of people in a bathtub VR world benefit humanity?). The gameplay is very well done and almost addicting. It really makes you conserve your resources, especially ammo. This adds to the "survival horror" genre and not just an action shooter.
