    A bittersweet adventure...

Bought this film to watch with my mom because we both enjoyed the director's previous work on The Cell. This is the same style of cinematography, with brilliant colors and outlandish costuming. The environments are truly amazing to behold and they alone make this a worthy watch for any film lover. The performance by Lee Pace was quite good, but it was the little girl that really stole the show. If you like thoughtful movies, then this might be a nice choice for you. I would suggest watching a trailer or two first, just to be sure this is your cup of tea, as it certainly won't appeal to everyone. I say give it a chance...I hope you like it!

This film is not for everyone. A kin to "Kiss of the Spider Woman" - two unlikely souls are linked and deeply search. BTW, this will be one of the best looking BDs in your collection.

This movie blew me away! I pick it up to rent one day last year and said "where has this movie been!" For parents don't mind the R rating for any one over 13, it's fine.

    Gorgeous blu ray

As a film, "The Fall" can best be summed up as "The Princess Bride" as told through the vision of Salvador Dali. For more on the plot and characters, the descriptors on this page work fine. As a blu ray, it is important that a format which touts itself for imagery make the most of beautiful images. "The Fall" has some of the most colorful, creative, vibrant, and unique visuals ever put to screen. Truly, if Roger Ebert - a man who has studied and viewed nearly every film ever made - can say that "The Fall" is one of the most magnificent he has ever seen, it has got to mean something. From the opening black and white/sepia toned still life sequence, to the hospital, to the stunning vistas (it was filmed in 18 countries over a period of 4 years), to the dream sequence, this film - of all other blu rays produced - demands an incredible visual fidelity on blu ray. The blu ray does not dissapoint or hold back in the slightest. Colors are rich and inky, detail is superb, and the bitrate remains steadily high throughout. Extra features are solid - 2 audio commentaries, 2 brief deleted scenes, and 2 "fly on the wall" style making of featurettes. None are in hd, but their content suffices for the film. What it most comes down to is this - As a film, are you willing to encourage the independent visionaries by at least renting the film? It has no current A-list stars, huge studio support, or oscar salivating motives. However, it avoids pretense and is genuinely captivating. As a blu ray machine owner with an hdtv - do you want to get the most out of your expensive machine? "The Fall" on blu ray is the perfect way to enjoy all that HDTV screen with maximum beauty, vision, and clarity. It is a must own product that no blu ray owner shouldn't at least experience once.

    An extraordinary cinematic experience

The Fall is a project whose ambition alone makes it worth seeing at least once. Tarsem Singh allegedly put twenty years into the film's production and filmed in an overwhelming number of locations around the world. The result is a film of never-before-seen visual prowess; a mystical journey into the imagination that does not make any use of CGI whatsoever and as a result rekindles the viewer's belief in the power of film to captivate the imagination. The film tells the story of a stuntman who has just been left by the woman he loves and is currently staying in a hospital while recovering from an injury he sustained on the set of a film. Once there, he befriends a young girl who is also a patient, and he begins to tell her a fantastic story about a group of men who seek vengeance against an evil governor. The stuntman has a dark ulterior motive, however: he tells the girl the story to get her to bring him some morphine so that he can commit suicide. The acting here is solid. The characters are amusing, even though those within the story border upon the sort of caricatures that you can expect to find in a story meant for a child. The characters of the stuntman and the little girl, however, develop a very touching relationship, and through it, the film shows off some remarkable acting, especially from the little girl, who actually learned english for this film as the film was shot in chronological order. She really shines in this picture. The story really isn't the film's draw. It is the visuals that really matter, and it is because of them that I recommend this film. They are well worth seeing for yourself.

One of the best movies I have seen in a while. The visuals are stunning, I would recommend it to anyone with a 1080p to see what your TV should look like. But, what surprised me is the story is so amazing, Hilarious, Serious, Sad, everything at times. I honestly "Fell" into the movie and loved every minute of it. The seemingly candid moments of the little girl were very great considering her young age, I was trying to figure out if she even knew she was acting or being filmed. She was very funny. Then, the ride though her imagination is great and I wanted it to keep going on. I would recommend this to anyone who has ever had an imagination or would like to sit in a movie and just relax in aww while watching; while still having a few plot twists in there to keep you on your toes.

    New favorite movie

This movie immediately became one of my favorites. It is beautifully done, with vivid colors and amazing landscapes. The story is unique and original, both in its content and its presentation. Lee Pace (of Pushing Daisies fame) was perfect in his role. The actress who played the little girl will steal your heart and provide you with two hours of laughter. The only downside to the DVD is the special features. There are two long behind-the-scenes featurettes, but neither have a narrative of any sort. They are simply a hodge podge of scenes - by the time you've finished you'll wish you had just watched the movie again.

I believe everyone should own this movie. The first time I watched it, it became my all-time favorite. It totally blows you away. It is so artistic and creative. You could seriously pause every slide and print it out and frame it. Each second you see is a true feast for the eyes. This movie was spectacular. It's a shame it didn't get advertised that much, because a lot of people don't know about it. Don't rent it, buy it! I let everyone borrow mine & they end up buying it anyways.

This movie is absolutely stunning..the cinematography simply cannot be matched. Everything from the costumes to the locations to the music is absolutely gorgeous. A feast for the eyes. (not to mention...Lee Pace is also a feast for the eyes) The interactions between darling little Catinca and Lee are so heartwarming. Catinca will surely capture your heart! Her flawlessly real acting is to be envied by all child actors. Tarsem has created a masterpiece here. A heartwarming tale, filled with action, imagination and strong human emotions. I loved this film.

    Big Budget Art Film

I enjoyed The Fall very much, but it wasn't for an incredibly unique plot or a story that had my eyes glued to the screen for its two hours. The Fall is a grandiose, big-budget film shot in about 18 countries, and the cinematography is simply amazing. This is compounded by the lush, scenic locations and amazing set design and costumes. However, the story goes back and forth bewilderingly and includes seemingly out-of-place and irrelevant segments and interludes. The main story - centered around an injured girl in a hospital who happens upon a man who tells her a grand story (for something in return) - is interesting, yet not firmly rooted in the traditions of successful storytelling. The Fall is far from perfect, but near excellent.

This was a fantasticly epic film! My wife and I loved it! Great imagery, great acting, great plot, great ending, great everything! The artistic imagery of this movie was much like it was in The Cell, very dream like. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it! And if you haven't seen The Cell, it's kind of the horror version of this movie.

This is one of my favorite films. It is visually stunning, charmingly acted and is a live story to storytelling and imagination. I had this film on DVD, and it was one of the first films I desired to upgrade to blu ray- which was worth every penny.

This a good movie to see how great of a picture that a Blu-ray with a HDtv gives. But besides that the story and the plot is weak.
