I didn't know what to expect but the visual and costumes of that time period were well done and re-created beautifully. The acting by Rachel and Emma is also very good.

The Favourite would be a much better film with a different director. The story about lesbian intrigue at the top of Britain's monarchy is plenty interesting without the weirdness that Yorgos Lanthimos seems to want to pile on. Way too much of the film is shot through a fish-eye lens and with rapid swish pans seemingly designed to made the viewer nauseated. If you can get part the "artsy for the sake of being artsy" pretentious nonsense, there's a pretty decent story in there...somewhere.

The Favourite is probably not a movie for everyone, but I would recommend people check it out. It’s not like most period-piece films, which is good because I’m not typically a fan of the genre. It is strange, dark, and funny. If you have seen, and enjoyed, Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon then I think this would make a nice companion piece to it. Wish it was available on 4k, but the blu-ray version is all that is available, and I doubt that will change anytime soon. Have not watched the blu-ray yet, but shipping was quick and everything was in good condition. Included slipcover.

Funny and sort of a dark drama. Taked place in Victorian era. Great cast.
