I bought this movie many years ago on blu ray. I wasn’t to crazy about it. Just finished rewatching the 4K version and absolutely loved it. Bruce Willis is excellent and the plot moved light lightning. Didn’t want it to end!

As I'm reading the reviews for this product I keep seeing reviews about the film itself. This is not a movie review this is a product review. I thought that the construction of the case was innovating but not well tested. Great idea to have the latest in sound technology but there's a book inside that can't really be enjoyed. Because, when you open the the plexiglass case the binding tears. Oh well nice try. Better luck next time. By the way this movie is a CLASSIC!

Shot on 35mm with a 4K DI and Dolby Atmos sound. Movie was shot on film so you can expect a little grain but nothing too intrusive. HDR is a little muted and not as bright but does a good job on black levels. Sound is good and near reference quality. All in all, Sony does a pretty good job on their transfers and is worth seeing especially if you're a fan and it's the best it's ever looked.

Starring Mila Jovovich, Bruce Willis, and Gary Oldman. A taxi driver encouters a woman not from his world who is the key to saving the universe, and an enemy that wants that key for his own purposes in this space opera

My husband and I have always liked this movie. We bought the 4K version without even having a 4K tv. We do however have a 4K DVD player popped that disc in and I was wowed. Even without the 4K tv the video was sharper.

When this came out it was so different from anything else, the practical effects hold up, Chris Tucker is at his peak and the world is fleshed-out and lived in. This Blu Ray is stunning with a great steel book.

I already owned this movie on DVD but wanted to pick it up on blu-ray. The SteelBook was on sale cheaper than the regular blu-ray, so I bought it. Cool graphics on the cover, and the movie is a classic.

This film is one of the best examples of so many genres. Action, Drama, Comedy and Scifi! Very Original story. The blu ray copy looks amazing considering this film came out in 1997. clearly ahead of its time.

I read mixed reviews online pertaining to this movie being reformatted in 4k. I am beyond happy I went against most reviews I read, the Dolby Atmos tracking on this is incredible and the visuals look amazing!

Not sure if you need the 4k version as most movies are 2k upsampled these days. And depending on the size of the TV and distance 4k may give you much more than 1080p
Awesome movie no matter what format

I grew up watching this movie on VHS and then my dad got the DVD and later the Blu-Ray so I decided to get myself a copy of the Blu-ray and it is wonderful. The art on this special case is really cool too.

One of The Best Sci-Fi Movies Ever Is on 4K!

Ah, Fifth Element. A movie that remains among Luc Besson's best (including Leon: The Professional, La Femme Nikita, The Transporter, Taken, and a double whammy of Jet Li in Kiss of the Dragon and Unleashed). It's also my favorite sci-fi movie. While this review is surely skewed in its favor because of that, you have to admit that the movie has heart. We have Bruce Willis during his prime stepping into another actiony role that gravitates to saving all life, along with a pre-Resident Evil Milla Jovovich, a comically flamboyant Chris Tucker, a crazed businessman of a villain as Gary Oldman can pull off (seems off that Dracula, this, and Leon all got 4K treatments of late and they are all Gary Oldman endeavors), and we have cameos from sci-fi veterans Ian Holm of Alien, Brion James of Blade Runner, Tommy "Tiny" Lister as the strong, restrained President of Earth (Deebo from Friday, mind you!), and even Luke Perry and Lee Evans get cameos.
I owned the original Blu release of the movie and found it horrible. Exchanged it for the re-release and it was better, but had no effing extras of any note. Really, they couldn't have made such a staple Sony product in this movie? And then we get the 4K release. Which looks and sounds amazing...and the big thing is IT HAS EXTRAS. They are standard definition, but there are extras. Lots of behind the scenes stuff involving the actors, the aliens, the aesthetics, fashion and many others. You still get the trivia track from the original release, but you can spend a couple of hours watching all of the extras and admiring what work went into making the movie.
Is this the version you want to own? Well, if you're wanting to get into the 4K/UHD craze, may be best to wait since this title could get another issue. Then again, it may not. We are talking about a film nearly 20 years old now, and it's all a question of how much improvement they can accomplish beyond this (short of supplementing the extras in HD cleanup and tossing in more into a possible UHD release, which I won't be a part of for a while). Otherwise, I say get it. If you're one of those who owns the Steelbook for the movie too, get rid of that older Blu-Ray and toss the disc from this into the mix. You'll have a great collector's item in the form of a Steelbook with a substantially better copy of the movie.
