Got this together with Bram Stoker's Dracula during the BOGO weekly deal and excited to revisit the remastered version on my mint Samsung js8500!

Mila is gorgeous, Bruce is... Bruce, and the fifth Element is awesome. If you aren't into sci-fi give this a shot and stick with it. An aquired taste that everyone should try.

The 5th Element is a creative action movie. There is a love interest, some comedy, and action. I enjoyed the film, but I can't say that owning it is worth it. I received the dvd as a gift, and I watched it, enjoyed it, and I have never felt the urge to watch it again. The movie felt kinda cheesy, which can be expected for science fiction/comedy/action movies I guess. I do recommend renting it, and if you end up liking it a lot more than I did, well then, go and buy it for your collection.

So I went to Best Buy today and picked up the new steel book. I pop the Blu ray in and the beginning of the movie outside in the desert is all riddled with dirt. I watch about 45 minutes and just think the image is soft. I get out my original Blu ray, the second Blu Ray release in the USA with the better transfer which is AVS encoded. It looks like Sony used the old, blurrier, upconverted inferior transfer instead that is MPEG encoded. I'm pretty bummed. I payed $15 for a steel book with and old, outdated transfer. Nice screw up Sony.

The Fifth Element is not a great movie. It's fun, it's got great visuals, it's got Chris Tucker... Still, I enjoy the movie. Best Buy has been putting out a lot of exclusive steelbooks, and I think this is one of my favorites. Beautiful, evocative art that frankly outshines what lies within. A must buy for collectors.

It's not for everyone, but if you don't know how to quote the lines you need to watch it again and again.

If you are a syfi fan, this is a must own, great action, and fun comedy.

If you don't have this film yet, this is the version to get.

This movie is a must own for any sci-fi fan. It is a classic.

I was disappointed thinking this would look better than my regular blu ray. It looked extremely grainy. If you already own it own on blu ray consider waiting.

Avoid this problematic release like the plague. Instead, be certain that you are buying the remastered re release of this title. While the box art for this remastered edition is nearly identical to the earlier Blu-ray release, the words "Experience High Definition" appear in silver foil, (not gray), and Dolby TrueHD is listed among the audio tracks on the back of the box on the new edition.
