    Mind Games

The Forest stars Natalie Dormer in due roles. Dormer plays Sara who travels to Japan to find her twin sister Jess who disappeared a few days earlier in Japan famous suicide forest. I enjoyed The Forest. I am a fan of supernatural thrillers and really enjoyed the mind games the main character. This film sold me on how good an actress Dormer really is. She was able to pull off two characters, twins, with entirely different personalities. This is a thinking man' horror film. I recommend this film to fans of ghost stories and Japanese horror.

    Japanese Forest Really?

I had seen the trailer for this when I saw HATEFUL EIGHT. The posters were everywhere in the lobby. I love Japanese horror films because many deal with spirits of some kind. When I saw the trailer I thought OK, U.S. remake of a Japanese film. I went home to look it up, nothing stood out as this being a remake. I waited a few months for it to come to blu. I bought it release day and watched it. There was one thing that made me scratch my head. Something was off here. Which was fine it gave the movie weird feel which I could not put my finger on. After a little bit it finally struck me...No bamboo in a Japanese forest! Really? I have seen well over a hundred Japanese films and there is always bamboo in the forests. When the credits roll... you see all the names and I realized it's a 'Serbian' made film which is trying to be Japanese! This was OK, it explained (to me) why it seemed off kilter - which makes it interesting. The story was good, the full use of a haunted forest made sense. I would say more but do not want to say anything which could reveal spoilers. It's not a great movie it's not a bad movie just a middle of the road horror film which was fun to watch.

    Psychological Thriller

I thought this was a pretty good psychological thriller. I was hoping for a big time scary movie, but that's not what it is and that's fine since the psychological part was good. I felt like it was sad for Sarah at the end, I mean really.. did it have to end that way! And of course I wanted to smack them when they didn't listen to the guide and stay at the camp until he got there but if they did then we wouldn't have a movie.

More of a psychological thriller than horror movie

There are twists and turns in "The Forest", but I would call it more of a psychological thriller than a horror movie. Some nice symbolism, just light on the genuine scares if that's what you are hoping for. I said I would recommend this film, but mostly for hardcore fans of Natalie Dormer ("Game of Thrones") and those who can be patient. Would not recommend for the ultra-critical or blood-and-guts horror fans.

I actually really liked this one. I found the slightly by-the-numbers story to be compelling. Yes they went for the cheap jump scare a few times and the acting was only ok in my opinion, but it had a good plot twist and great presentation (excellent cinematography and music score) which made the end product work. Definitely worth a watch

This is the third movie involving the so called "suicide forest" that I have seen. While it was well made and acted, it was not as "scary" as the others. The supernatural aspect was downplayed in favor of a more psychological approach. While the ending was unexpected, it really wasn't sufficiently explained.

I'm always so skeptical of scary movies, they're my favorite but they've been a little bad lately. Not so with this one, I actually enjoyed it. It played with your head and kept you guessing what was going to happen. I really recommend this movie if you like the horror genre

I'm not a big horror fan, but I definitely enjoyed this film. Natalie Dormer was great in her dual roles and the film started off with a real good premise and narrative. Unfortunately, things fell apart towards the end, but overall it was a really fun movie.

A horror , suspense story of a loyal sister searching for her missing sister amidst the scary and frightening Forrest known for gathering suicides. A mark above other movies in its genre, it will keep you tense. Not your low budget film. Grab it.

Great story to follow even though it is a sad reality. Off course you can see Hollywood touch , but it is scary movie that it will make you shake even though it has a sad very sad reality behind it.

I wasn't sure what to expect considering the garbage that they call horror now but this was much better than I thought. Natalie Dormer is awesome in GoT and now this one too!

Movie isn't breaking any new ground in the field of horror but it is an interesting concept based on a true forest and legend and Natalie Dormer is really easy on the eyes...

This thriller tends to get lost in the woods

The Forest takes what could have been a great concept, builds it up really well and then loses its way just as the story could get really good. The acting isn't bad and the script is surprisingly good for a horror/thriller, it seems like maybe the studio had a hand in shifting some of the story and it nearly derails the film. Fortunately the end is enough to redeem the missteps and it ends up being an ok movie.

Overall a good movie. It took a bit to spin up, held for awhile and ended pretty well. I think they could have done better with this one. Worth watching.

I love horror and thriller movies. This one is good, maybe could be more scary, I'm still looking for the one that really scares me, haven't found it yet.

Natalie Dormer does all she can, but doesn't stop this generic horror film from falling short of its ambitious goals. The creep factor is here at times, the woods make you feel uneasy, but it gives in to cliche horror tropes and becomes very predictable. I'd recommend It Follows if you're looking for a better more recent horror film.

I knew nothing about the movie going into it. It was pretty much an impulse buy when I saw it at the store. The story was interesting a few parts were a little weak in the acting. Overall it delivered on what it advertised on the back of the box. Not certain I would recommend it, but not sure I wouldn't either. It was okay.
