This is one of those movies that goes back and forth in time. You really have to pay attention to follow all that is going on. For me it was a little difficult (maybe because I was tired and didn't want to have to think much). I will say that the movie has a twist in it that I never saw coming which I liked. I always like movies that have avenues of surprises they travel down which I didn't see coming. I would give this movie 3.5 stars.

The Girl on the Train is a story about a girl who came off of a devastating divorce because of her drinking problem. She spends all her time going past her old neighborhood on a local train to view a family who lived a few houses down from her former home. She fantasizes over how she wishes that was her life till one day she notices something looks wrong and decides to get involved. This is when the whole mystery unravels. Rachel (Emily Blunt) gives a first rate performance . The cinematography is outstanding in this spellbinder. A must see!

This movie jumps time intervals. Starting X months back, X weeks back, etc... If you can keep up and get through the slower parts it is actually a pretty good movie. Would recommend to "certain" types of movie watchers. Ones who get up and do this or that without pausing movie I would not recommend it to. Need more of a focused movie goer. You all know who you are right?

This movie is a fairly faithful adaptation. The story is dark and depressing as you may already knew. The main character (Rachel/Emily Blunt) is an alcoholic but her actions while she is blacked out aren't as bad as we thought they. the secondary character (Megan/Haley Bennett) who is quite promiscuous, despite being married. I did not like the third woman very much (Anna/Rebecca Ferguson). The best one can hope for is that the truth comes out eventually.

This was one of the best mysteries I saw all last year. It'll keep you guessing from the beginning to the very end. This had been compared to "Gone Girl" (another good mystery) before it came out, but the big reveal in this for me wasn't as shocking, although I'll admit I was surprised. Every one of the cast was at the top of their game and this was one of Emily Blount's better performances. She does "grunge" very well. :) A good one for those of us that get snowed in form time to time.

I first saw this movie in a theatre and then bought the dvd. In the theatre, the very first part of the movie was difficult to figure out until I watched the dvd. You must pay attention to the very beginning when the film introduces you to the main characters. After this, it gets suspenseful. I liked it especially the ending! Sorry Jennifer Anniston!

This well acted story is centered on interesting-but-weird, strong-but-complicated women but it adds an element of mystery-thriller with a twist. It's not quite "Hitchcockian" but nevertheless makes for a couple of entertaining hours. The 1.85:1 blu-ray image is clean & sharp with somewhat muted colors. DTS:X audio is solid but unremarkable.

The story is told through a series of flash-backs as the story-line progresses. Emily Blunt delivers brilliant emotional performance of a young woman torn between the bottle and a broken love that leads to an exceptional Crime – Mystery/Thriller that does not reveal the “wanted” answers to the end of this captivating story. It keeps you on the edge-of-your-seat throughout its length. The film really needs to be seen twice to be fully appreciated.

I have always loved Emily, and this film showcased the chops she has as an actor. Translating a book like this is very difficult, and I think it successfully did it. Many may disagree with me, but I very much enjoyed it. It garnered my attention and kept it the entire time. Bought it instantly and have watched several times since.

This was a strange but good video. The beginning you get lost in understanding the characters and there importance in the story. But, if you stay with the video and watch the characters develop the story; this video will pull you in. Excellent acting and a strong story makes this a good and well worth the investment in this movie

While most movies deviate from the books they are derived from , The Girl On The Train is a surprisingly faithful adaptation of the Paula Hawkins novel. Careful attention is paid to the shifting timeline of the novel , which adds intensity and suspense to an otherwise straightforward story. Broken down , this movie serves as an interesting character study of a woman who has lost control of her life. Solid Performance by Emily Blunt.

I just purchased The Girl On The Train in 4K, although I had seen it previously...It's an extremely good psychological thriller with numerous twist and turns, and I don't mean the train, which turns out to be a superb backdrop for the film...the character development is intense and you'll find yourself questioning motives, etc.

This movie was very good! It kept you guessing & wondering who the girl on the train was, and what was the driving force behind her taking the train past this particular house everyday. Emily Blunt gave a profound performance, with a really nice Twist in the end. Great movie if you like suspense, & to be kept guessing.

I had read the book and had been told by several friends that I would not like the movie?..I decided to watch it anyway and did like it. I can understand that it could be a little confusing to someone that may not have read the book first. I thought it followed the book fairly well and enjoyed having my memory refreshed .

The first few minutes establishes characters for the base of suspense. Then the movie peels away like onion skin to completely change each of the characters in the plot and to show the motive and curiosity of the main character. The final outcome in the end, is not what was set up. The incites to the couple changes when later scenes are re shot. This movie keeps you guessing. How many times did you think you knew what was going on?

I was pulled into watching this movie by my wife. After you finished the backgrounds of each character it just continued to pull you in. Who commuted the murder and what was the motivation to do so over another characters? It was an edge of you seat thriller that you will not mind using your brain while you watch!

The film is a great mystery thriller, but it could have been even better. The film is a bit slow at first, but in the middle and the end it takes speed to the maximum. In short, The Girl On The Train is a look at humanity in all its horrendous brutality when hatred and revenge are unleashed.

Lots of flashbacks and time skipping. Also, many of the characters look alike so it is confusing until you figure out who is who. On the other hand, this creates an incentive to watch the move again. 4k picture quality was great once I had the right settings for the player, receiver and tv.

“The Girl on the Train” is a preposterous movie but not an unenjoyable one. If that sounds like faint praise, well, it is and it isn’t. There’s always something to be said for an entertainment that sustains its nuttiness all the way to its twisty finish.
