This is a really good suspenseful movie. The characters are really interesting and not cookie cutter. You see Emily Blunt playing a totally different character than you are used to seeing her portray. I'm disappointed that the movie got overlooked at The Oscars and Sag Awards.

    A good mystery...not a great one.

Emily Blunt does a wonderful job as the recently divorced woman who has trouble adjusting to her new life, and spends much of her time riding the train into the city - the same train she always took from her home when she was married. Her attention is focused on a young woman she sees daily, on the balcony of her house, which is just down the road from her former home. It is a daily ritual until she sees the young woman with a man on the balcony, and then doesn't see the young woman any longer. She wonders what may have happened, and begins a journey that involves opening up memories from her past that she tried to hide. Atmospheric and well-paced, it is a good mystery, but just misses being a great film for reasons you'll have to discover for yourself.

If you have read the best seller book, the upfront difference is the location of the story has been changed from the U.K. to the USA. This is a difficult story to translate into film for sure, and the film does a standout job. The blu-ray video and audio is excellent.

"The Girl on the Train" is a mesmermizing thriller that will draw you in from the very first scene. Emily Blunt is perfectly cast in her role of "Rachel", a woman in turmoil after her divorce. Based on Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel, this is one movie you do not want to miss. Twists and turns throughout will keep you glued to your tv screen.

Did not read the book, did not see it in theatre, so was pleasantly surprised at the suspense and twist in this movie. Would imagine this is a better book with more time to delve into the history of the main character but it was a pretty good movie

Well worked narrative and tone, reminiscent of David Fincher's most recent movies such as "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and "Gone Girl". Alcoholism is at the center of the story, and although Blunt is convincing in her acting, this role should have gone to a sadder actress such as one of the Mara sisters. Overall, a very well done piece.

    Emily Blunt Showcase

A showcase for the acting talent of Emily Blunt. The story here is good, but really pretty formulaic, in it's thriller/suspense presentation. BUT - miss Blunt is absolutely marvelous in her role. This is a must see just for her performance alone

The movie started out a little slow...then a character profile of each person begins to develop. The chronological order is intertwined with many flashbacks and side stories. Overall the movie will keep you guessing until the final twist.

Movie kept going back and forth from the past to present time. Was hard to follow through the first half of the movie. Everything started to come together the last half of the movie. Nice twist on the who done it movie at the end.

This movie is a good movie for a night in when you want to watch a movie and be captivated and intrigued but not bombarded by endless action and explosions. The tone and tempo of the story is pleasant and easy to enjoy.

Didn't read the book like my girlfriend so I had no basis to go off of. Really enjoyed the movie, good twists throughout the movie from beginning to end. My girlfriend having read the book had high expectations which were met.

Top notch acting by Emily Blunt. She does a great job showing different emotions and drawing the viewer in to her problems. The "who done it" part wasn't a total surprise though. Not a family or date movie though.

To me, it appears that the film went way out of it's way to keep everyone guessing as to what the ending would eventually be. As a result, the first 3/4 of the movie was BORING. Only the last 15 min. made the entire movie.

This movie is tense and engaging. The actors did a fine job and the script was well done, though the numerous uses of the F-bomb did not add anything. Likewise, the nudity brought no value to the film.

We purchased this because some friends talked about what a great movie it was. It was different because it seemed to start at the end & bring to the present in what was happening. Kept us guessing the plot to the end.

Having missed this in the theatre I waited for the DVD release, I am a big fan of Emily Blunt and was really interested in the way she would handle the role. As usual, she did not disappoint me and the story was fantastic. I found it gripping right to the end. Good deal on Blu-ray too.
