I really enjoyed the book, and the Robert Redford film adaptation of the book. I was excited about Baz's interpretation. I really enjoyed his previous works. While I think the idea of injecting modern music into this time period, was admirable, I think it was a misfire. This movie is visually great, dialogue and substance is lacking, compared to the source material. It is very enjoyable/entertaining film. Definitely worth the watch.

Being a fan of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel I was anxious to see how this filmed version would hold-up...and I was not disappointed....the movie is very faithful to the book (though a little long) and the acting is superb....especially the chemistry between Leo and Michelle.....he sets are and visual side is stunning beyond words, though I was not a big fan of the modern styled music that was used...Overall I would highly recommend this movie.

The colors in costumes and direction are probably the best thing about this movie. Story was kind of boring

Besides, being a terrific film, THE GREAT GATSBY, is one of the best transfers out there. If you want to show off your 4K set, this is the 4K disc to use. It is extremely sharp and there are lots of dark and light moments to impress others. The film itself is a wonderful translation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. My only complaint that this 4K disc did not include the 3D transfer of the film.

Great 3D usage and the overall pizzazz of the films glitz and glamour shines through in the retelling of the classic novel. It holds it's ground well against the previous film with Redford making me wish this film and this film alone would get an update every 30 years, not every film franchise ever. DeCaprio delivers and Toby turns in a great performance as well as this was their childhood dream project to work together on.

I have been a long-time fan of the book and this latest interpretation is definitely the best. Leonardo Decaprio is the perfect representation of Gatsby. The rest of the cast is perfect. The music is great and the look of the 1920's era is incredible. The movie could have been 15 minutes shorter, but was quite well done. I'm replacing the Robert Redford version with this one. Highly recommended, especially if you are a fan of chick-flicks.

For anyone that said they cannot notice the difference in 4K, I challenge them and welcomly invite them to watch this film. The massive sets that Baz Luhrman used for this movie is probably the best in the last few years in any movie and the grandeur of it has never been any better. Get this movie, not just because it looks amazing in 4K, but because it truly is a magnificent and great gem.

Do not listen to the opinions of others, because I heard nothing but negative things about this film and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Others set their expectations too high, and this was a high quality film loaded with 3D-popping features. It's definitely something that I would recommend. The one downside is that it lasts about 2hrs 30mins, but the time didn't seem nearly that long because it kept my interest all the way through the movie.

It's nearly impossible to translate a great book to film and have that film be as good as the source material. Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby very nearly succeeds, though. My biggest complaint: the unnecessary intrusion of modern music in this tale of love and excess in 1920's New York. It worked in Moulin Rouge but not here. Still a great film, though!

A great modern take from the book and a great remake from the previous ones. The scenery, plot, and acting are wonderful in this film. Whether you had to read the book in high school or not, everyone should watch this movie. Love it!

I am one of the few people that love this movie. Everyone said the background scenes were gorgeous and they are, but I love the story that he loved her THAT much that he kept her letters. Made me cry (however, I do cry easily). My 14 year old son even enjoys it. It can get a little boring towards the end, but you can fast forward through that like I do. Great find, Great price, Great movie!!!

DiCaprio puts in an Oscar worthy performance here as Gatsby. The sheer bombast of Luhrmann's direction may put off some viewers but IMHO it fits with Fitzgerald's critique of the decadent 20s. Mulligan's performance as Daisy is also noteworthy. Divisive film. Give this one a chance!

Regardless of if you like this movie or not, The Great Gatsby on UHD is absolutely stunning. The detail and colors truly shine on UHD and is worth checking out just for demo purposes. Some scenes will show a bit of grain due to some stylistic shots, but overall The Great Gatsby looks gorgeous on UHD and by far is the best presentation of this film.

For those women who are old enough to remember the original movie I ask....How do you choose between Robert Redford and Leonard DiCaprio in your 1920's fantasy world? The answer...you don't. This movie was just as good as the original. Acting, costumes, scenes were all great. I recommend having a Gatsby nite and do your own comparison.

From strat to finish-Good movie, shows the good times back in the day

Many have read the book in school. Some have seen old versions of other movies...well, here's another. It's a nice movie, but not one of those that I was overwhelmed with. It surprised me that my teenage son liked it as much as he did, although to be fair, I think he was reading it at about the same time. My advice....if you like it, go ahead and spring for it.

I've been waiting for a quality Gatsby movie ever since I fell in love with the book in high school, and I was not disappointed. Although a little anachronistic with the soundtrack, the movie is simply captivating. Just like Nick Carraway, the viewer gets caught up in the awesomeness that is Gatsby. I highly recommend checking this out if you get the chance.

One of the all time classic stories expressed beautifully on film Leo is fantastic as always and the movie just looks gorgeous. The acting is tremendous but I would not recommend it for action/fantasy movie lovers. This is a long form drama love story that has comedic elements but is not gong to constantly hype you up with action/spectacle like Pacific Rim.

If you want to see the dynamics your tv has to offer with using the 4k Samsung dvd player, get this movie. I wish that the Avatar would have been on 4k, it just seems like it should. Maybe someone will see this message and make it happen. Other than that I'm overjoyed with the results that I've seen with this movie.
