One of the great classic summer comedies. While formulaic, it certainly stands the test of time, for what it is. Basic, entertaining fun for the whole family. John Candy and Dan Ackroyd are a wonderful pairing here. This film will appeal to anyone who likes films like The National Lampoon's Vacation series, Spies Like Us, Uncle Buck, ect. An easy recommendation.

The Great Outdoors is classic comedy. I loved it when I first viewed it and still do after the many years since its release. John Candy and Dan Ackroyd are perfect in their roles. The whole family will enjoy this classic. Very nice Blu Ray transfer.

This is a true classic in comedy and is finally available to watch via Blu-ray. The previous DVD iterations of this movie did not do it justice. The blu-ray provides a pretty nice picture for a mid 80's comedy and a upgrade on the audio. Enjoy!

This movie is hilarious especially if you can relate to taking family vacations and being in the great outdoors, you will love it. I’m from Michigan so I totally related to this movie.

I have been waiting years for this to be released to Blu-ray. The transfer quality is pretty good. Always been one of my favorite movies. Great story for anyone of all ages, John Hughes and John Candy were the best!

Grew up watching this movie every summer - tradition in my family. Very entertaining movie - my favorite John Candy movie in fact. Good movie for the family. The jump in video quality is not a huge difference from the dvd version it seems. Also a few more bonus features could have been included with this movie.

One of Candy's best, right up there with Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Aykroyd is perfect as the obnoxious brother-in-law. You'll never look at hot dogs the same way! Highly recommended.

What do you get when you put Dan Aykroyd and John Candy together... a fun filled movie and enjoyable. Even though there are some tension between them there is plenty of laughs that make it worthwhile having.

Akroyd & Candy are pitch-perfect in this classic 80s summer comedy. I wore out my VHS cassette of THE GREAT OUTDOORS as a kid, and am thrilled to have a cheap, hi-def replacement for it in my library now.

Hello how can you go wrong with this movie it's an oldie but a goodie and I could watch it over and over and over and not get tired of it definitely recommend buying this one for your collection.

The Great Outdoors [Blu-ray] [1988] is a very funny movie, and very good picture quality, my family really enjoys vacationing in the northwoods, so this movie really hits home!

You just can't beat this comedy duo. Best Buy keeps it simple and priced right. If you like to laugh or just want to see if you still know what funny is go watch this flick as soon as you can.

The Great Outdoors is another well deserved 80's comedy that movie collectors have long awaited a bluray release of. Candy is brillant as always and the bear scene is fantastic!

This is a pairing of 2 hilarious actors. The late John Candy does every comedy quite competently as well as some serious stuff and Ackroyd plays the insensitive boob to perfection. The theme is a good one. Only shortcoming would be the cave sequence which is a bit overdone.

This is another mad cap John Hughes movie that is another great showcase for John Candy. I love the whole idea of this movie and it is better in Blue Ray and so much fun to watch.

Classic movie with great comedy. I can always return to this movie when I am struggling to find something to watch.
