Movies like "The Handmaiden" need to be either made more of in the USA or imported from abroad. Give this a try if you like intrigue, suspense, more than enough eroticism and sexuality like Fatal Atraction or Basic Instinct. I have recommended this film to everyone who likes to watch and be transported to another time, another country with a fantastic cast and superb story.

Chan Park Woo delivers this Victorian novel adaptation of a maiden who is chosen to work for a wealthy family. Once she starts working at the mansion, she starts to see everything that occurs from sadomasochistism to her own infatuation with one of the women in the household.

I love Asian film of all kinds! This film will thrill you, cinematography is brilliant, acting is second to none, the plot, directing, writing is just so amazing!

This movie is visually stunning. It is loosely based on Sarah Water's "Fingersmith".

The movie is amazing I went and saw it twice in the theater. The 3 is because Sony really dropped the ball on the dvd. Movie only, no extras at all not even a trailer, and horrid subtitles. In theaters they were color coded for Korean and Japanese, here one color, large and pixely. A very rushed product for such an amazing movie. Hope someone will get both blu-day rights and do this movie justice and give us the extended cut shown in Korea as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Great performances by the actors. A very sexy drama.

As far as movies from South Korea, this one is in my top 5. It's long, but the story sucks in you in so much you don't even realize.
