"Koto is a complete and total pervert, but he doesn't think that's a problem. What bothers him is that every time he tries to bluff his way through one of his indiscretions, his inability to drop his emotionless facade inevitably digs him in even deeper. Tsukiko also has an issue and wants to get rid of her childish habit of blurting out whatever she happens to be thinking. So when they learn about a statue of a cat that can take away a single personality trait that you want to get rid of, they're both eager to try it out. However, what neither of them realizes until it's too late is that the cat doesn't just take the personality trait away from you, it GIVES it to somebody else! Now Koto can't keep himself from saying exactly what's on his mind, while Tsukiko has picked up a complete inabillity to display emotion! Could the solution be finding the original owners of all the assorted problems and arranging an un-swap? And if it is, just how are they going to find everyone? A crazed game of musical personalities encompassing a very surprising cast of characters has only just begun in HENNEKO -- HENTAI PRINCE AND THE STONY CAT!"
Henneko is the abbreviated title for this one. I started reading the manga a good while back but stopped after the end of the Azusa stage. After watching the anime, I'm tempted to go back and catch up with the rest of the manga. The story focuses around Yoto Yokodera and Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi as they seek to be something that they aren't. After abandoning his facade, Yoto finds that he needs it in order to survive or his open perverseness will get him killed. Throughout the story we're also introduced to a few others: Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi, the elder sister and track team caption; Azusa Azuki, and Emi. Emi only plays a small role in the anime while Azusa and the Tsutsu sisters are much more prominent. What none of them realize is that asking wishes of a god isn't a game and can have dire consequences.
First off, I have to blame Sentai for the typo at the beginning of the description. For some reason they messed up and put Koto instead of Yoto for the main character's name. Next, I found this to be a very entertaining series to watch. There weren't any English dubs to listen to, so you do have to read the entire thing unless you're fluent in Japanese. But all of the characters were thoroughly enjoyable and had a bit more depth to them than what you typically find in a 12-episode comedy series. It's especially fun to see the facade around Tsukushi fall and when she admits why she's been pushing Tsukiko away from her. The story follows the typical harem storyline with there being small pushes towards each of the females in the series, but without anyone really coming out on top. Loved the artwork in this series. The character designs are from the Kantoku who is an amazing artist. If you see checkered skirts in anime/manga/doujinshi, it probably came from him!
Would love if there was more to this series, but it did end on a pretty solid note. Was a little scared when it started to pop up the drama at the end, but it all worked out well. Really didn't want a death scene to mar the ending! Check it out and I think you'll love it!
