Awesome movie and another steel book for our collection

Great Picture and sound, in a movie that deserves both. I am also very happy that this package included all the best special features and extras from some of the previous editions. Carpenter gets all the music glory for his movie scores, but in terms of atmosphere and enhancing the experience, this is one of the best I can think of. Even if you already own the movie, this edition and package are worth the upgrade.

Shout Factory knocks it out of the park with it's 4k UHD restoration of "The Hoeling". I wasn't the biggest fan of the film the first time i ever saw it but upon each additional watch the film has looked better and better. This is the best way to have rewatched and the film looks incredible. I cannot recommend this enough. A great release from shout and a treasure for cult film fans. Fans of werewolf films and director Joe Dante's work will want this too.

The other great 80s werewolf classic (the other being An American Werewolf in London, also available in 4K), this is a great film, with an amazing performance from Dee Wallace (of E.T. fame). Great effects, scares, and even some humor. It has never looked better than here in 4K. It may even look better than it did in its original theatrical run! Bonus features are plenty. You will get a big bang for your buck!

1981 was the year of the Werewolf movie and this one is an all timer as far as most people are concerned. Rob Bottin did the makeup effects (his movie right before Carpenter’s The Thing) and Joe Dante has his wit on display throughout. Scream Factory doesn’t have the best quality control on their encodes usually, but this is a stellar AV release.

This is a really good movie that I remember watching when i was younger.

This isn't a great movie, but for its time it had amazing special effects!!! The werewolf transformation scenes weren't spliced at all. You witness the entire transformation (as opposed to seeing scene after scene of different stages of one transformation) from human to werewolf in only a few camera shots/angles as opposed to 10 (exaggerating a bit) shots/angles/cut aways like in previous werewolf movies. It's a classic, and it was groundbreaking.

Werewolves. Classic beginning to a good werewolf series.

The howling is the second best modern werewolf film after American werewolf in London. The special effects are very good for their time. The story line is interesting as it is not a single werewolf but many. The scream factory release in this steelbook form is essential. Regular bluray edition is $13 but why not a little more for a steelbook. Although, this scream factory steelbook design format is kinda getting old. Love the art but I wish the steelbooks looked a little different from each other.

This is a very satisfying release of a Joe Dante werewolf classic! The archival documentary covers so much, but the additional NEW material enriches the development and production of this horror film so much! The transfer is really nice showing off the vibrant use of color while maintaining the mood and atmosphere that Dante intended. I can't recommend the film or this Blu-Ray Collector's Edition enough!

Not as good as American Werewolf in London but close. The transformation scene is long and super weird but that’s a good thing. 4K transfer looks solid and maintains original grain. The softness in some scenes is intention for the look of the film. Great slate of special features too. Scream factory put out excellent discs.

One of my favorite werewolf movies of all time, along with one of the best transformation scenes in cinema history. The tone and the atmosphere that this movie evokes, always draws me in. I tell ya, it really looks and sounds good in this 4k format. For fans of this cult flick, It's essential that this be in your collection.

I am so happy that Scream Factory has decided to jump on the 4K bandwagon and bring us all these delicious releases. The ones released so far have all been stellar and I hope that the trend continues. The Howling is an excellent upgrade to what you have already seen and worthy of a spot on your shelf.

There is no question that "The Howling" has the greatest transformation scene. It is truly scary and beautifully conceived. The basic framing story is well written, played and directed. Great cast with wonderful character actors. The original critics knew it was a special genre film. This Blue-ray has great extras. Several commentaries. If you like werewolf films, this is probably on your radar. If not, what are you waiting for?

It’s a good werewolf movie. Not my favorite but I enjoyed the film .

Ok ok. So we have 2 big movies come out dealing with werewolves. This and American werewolf in London. These 2 films are cornerstones and helped set that full moon rising on future great films. FX like this was made for this movie, designed and evolved over the years from this very film. Solid movie before the sequels went a bit different. Movie holds it's own to this day. Great cast, great director and story.

Great special effects and was in competition, in a way, with An American Werewolf in Paris with the practical effects. I like the special features as well; there was a lot and very informative. A definite purchase for those who love werewolf films.

What is there to say about this film that hasn't been said already? It is hands down one of the best werewolf films ever made. The effects hold up incredibly well to this day plus it is still rather scary. The 4K release really lets it shine. Highly recommended.

If you love werewolf movies, this classic is the ultimate. I highly recommend buying this version since it's put out by Scream Factory. You get your money's worth because of the touched up picture quality and sound, but also they pack a lot of extras and behind the scenes stuff onto their products. This did not include the cardboard slip case. Those are no longer in print unfortunately.
