BluRay DVD Digital Download all work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I opened the steel book Best Buy exclusive package and removed the download code. Was able to find the website and entered code with my iPhone. Was given a choice to use Flixter or iTunes and chose Flixter ( Vudu). Was a bit confusing with the digital streaming but eventually worked and was able to view the entire movie on my iPhone. Later used the BluRay to watch with family on Samsung 50 inch TV with sound through Yamaha receiver. Nice viewing experience. No skips or problems with the BluRay disc. I read the Hunger Games series of books before watching the movies and found that they follow the story fairly well.

Great Packaging
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review is specific to the product and not the movie itself. This is my first purchase of a Steelbook case and I must say that I am very impressed with it. It definitely brings uniqueness to the offering and sets it apart from other movies on the shelf. For this purchase, Best Buy offered a digital stream prior to the movie's disc release. I would recommend waiting for the disc and its online copy. It was much easier to simply enter the code and download your copy through iTunes than going through the CinemaNow sign up and then subsequently syncing accounts to download it through the Flixster app.

Decent continuation of beloved trilogy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oddly enough, I saw this in the theater and wasn't very impressed, but liked he blu-ray much much better.. There were more changes from the books than were evident in the previous films but only one I thought significant (SPOILER ALERT: Katniss's demands of President Coin to be the Mockingjay did not include "I kill Snow". Effie Trinket's expanded role was odd but didn't bother me too much). I also didn't like that they split it into two parts though it's somewhat understandable in regards to overall length. Not as good as The Hunger Games (1st adaptation) but so far better than HG: Catching Fire. IMO this mirrors the quality of the books though pt. 2 will be the determining factor. Blu-ray quality was very good.

This just in: Hollywood makes more $$$ from fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We all know this splitting of the final entry is merely Hollywood's money grabbing scheme to take advantage of the huge fan base of the series. The events in it could have been compressed to 48 min running time. That being said, the movie holds enough interest to make you pay up for the next one. It's not as compelling a sequel as Catching Fire. J Law still carries the role well next to a wooden Hemsworth. Hutcherson makes a surprising turn near the end (spoiler alert), placing the love triangle in a tenuous position. It's packaged in a rather bland SteelBook, with uninspiring artwork. But being the SteelBook addict that I am, I added it to the collection. Worth the purchase at $19.99. Hollywood wins.

Light on the action, High on the story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In short, I was not disappointed with the iteration of Mockingjay, Part 1. I needed it, as I will need Part 2, to complete the Steelbook set of the Hunger Games series (which is one of two YA collections I enjoy owning; the other Harry Potter). While the action in the first two movies, combined with the deepening of the second movie's story, sold the series to a lot of people, Mockingjay has been given a splitting, alas. But Part 1 is definitely setting things up for an ending that will no doubt work out accordingly well. The series as a whole is still good and worth the investment.

Wow, this is already out on video?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cancelled cable, and recently had a child, so I missed advertisements for this movie's theater release, if it even had one. I'm sure it did. I have enjoyed the Hunger Games story thus far, and though this one departs somewhat from the setting and action of the first two, it was still very enjoyable. I think the first two movies in the series just wanted to show you exactly how far in the future they were set with their technology. This one wants to show you just how far ahead the antagonist is in thinking. Like a first-timer going up against a master chess player.

Next Exciting Part
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mockingjay Part 1, the latest film in the Hunger Games series, continues the story setting the stage for the climactic finale. If you've read the books then you've probably seen the films and know what to expect. Interesting characters struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. As for the steelbook case, it looks great, a nice collectible for the Hunger Games fan. Opens easy and the discs are easy to remove from the plastic holder. I've had other steelbook cases where I've been worried I break the disc to remove it, but this presented no problems.

Can't wait for Part 2
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that I have not seen the Hunger Games movies nor read the books before purchasing this movie. So I purchased the first 2 movies (from Best Buy naturally :-) ) and watched them prior to watching Mockingjay Part 1. I will admit that I became captivated by these movies and story. What a cast, acting, and filmmaking! For me, Mockingjay Part 1 seemed to slow down a bit in the middle of the movie, as the need for exposition was required for the 13th district, war with the capital, and new characters such as President Coin. But it picked up at the end with the assault on the capital and rescue of Peeta---- and then it stops! Wait for Part 2.

Great movie with excellent video and audio
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this movie for the family seeing as how we have the previous two films and both my wife and oldest son are fans of the book series. The movie, for me who has not read the books, is well done with a nice blend of action and drama. Acting is superb and it makes you empathize with the characters. The video and audio presentation is top notch for those that have a good quality HD theater system. The only gripe is the usual Hollywood spilt to create two movies but the wife says that is best since the last book has much detail to cover.

Great first installment.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a few reviews of this movie that basically poo-pooed the lack of action (compared to the first two) and I was wondering if I would like it at all. After watching I was wondering what the reviewers were thinking or drinking because the movie was excellent in terms of character development, following the original story from the book, and certainly action. It is simply amazing what Jennifer Lawrence can convey through facial expressions on screen without saying a word! She is so perfectly cast! I am definitely looking forward to part II!

ready for the last installment of the rebellion
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw this at the theater with some friends but was ready for it to come out on Blu-ray so I could re-watch & digest a few pieces more clearly, like revealing Snow's issue with the white roses. But I think it would have been better as one movie & not split up. This one left you wanting more action & not just stretching out the story to make more money. This one just seems like the set up for the final movie, but without a lot on its own. Kind of like when they broke up the last Harry Potter book - the Part 1 movie was not great on its own, but it set the stage for Part 2. All so people could make more money with an extra movie.

Keeps getting better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the few movie series that is consistent & keeps getting better with each installment. Mockingjay part 1 is darker than the previous movies but you have to remember that the final & last part will be the big blast of a full revolution against the evil government of Panem. Jennifer Lawrence is a truly gifted actress & is perfect for the role of Katniss. Even though the very ending is a downer ( it has to be) it sets up the revolutionary events that we will witness in Mockingjay part 2. Highly recommended!

Almost as good as the book
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mockingjay Part 1 is so very close to the book. As someone who has read the whole series multiple times I was incredibly happy with how they chose to direct and produce the film. As an avid fan, I'm always worried that when they turn a beloved book into a movie it will go terribly wrong but so far they have done the Hunger Games Trilogy excellently. This movie shadows the darker feelings of Katniss and her trouble with leaving Peeta and starting a full blown revolution. I would highly recommend this anyone!

Descent value - w/ bluray and digital copy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We saw Mockingjay at the theater, but it already purchased the previous movies in the series so kind of felt obligated to purchase this pne but it already purchased the previous movies in the series so kind of felt obligated to purchase this one. Fortunately, we caught it on sale so even though we don't purchase a lot of movies… Felt pretty good about getting this one, especially with the digital copy for our "travel library". *sidenote: My wife insists, the producers did have to work hard to make TWO films from the book. Apparently the book's content, length, didn't really support two movie scripts.

New Mocking Jay movie!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mocking Jay, Part I is a solid movie from beginning to end. Jennifer Lawrence continues to be a enviable heroine in this third installment of the story. I'm not certain how they are planning on dealing with the untimely real life demise of Philip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch Heavensbee.) I have to wonder of this films story-line is a loose prediction of how events could somehow play out in reality. If nothing else this film, more than the previous ones IMHO, brings questions and thoughts of an outmatched public at large versus a tyrannical "big brother" government...... You decide and enjoy the show!!!!

That is so darn rare! I appreciate that part about Best Buy so much. My cell phone service provider cannot compare!! You guys are so good, you should consider becoming your own cellular provider. Spectacular!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Continuing the trilogy after Catching Fire, the story carries on following Katniss back to the seldom mentioned District 13 and President Cain. The plot continues as Katniss becomes the primary focus of the revolution as "The Mockingjay" signaling peace. At first, Katniss is reluctant to be used in such a way, but after witnessing the destruction done to her home, District 12, and discovering that Peeta is still alive she begins to take upon the challenge of becoming the face of the revolution.

The Hunger continues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the steelbook on pre-order which turned out to be a great value because we got an advanced digital copy so I didn't have to even wait for the hard copy but it is worth it with the pictures quality uptick on blu plus this one is mixed in ATMOS giving early adopter of the latest and greatest from Dolby a much need "real" movie release. As for the movie, it is another solid entry to the Hunger Games series with less action than the previous two all around but still a lot of value with focus on the actors and moving the story though clearly playing set up man for the upcoming closer.
