Trying not to review the movie, but just the blu-ray package instead. Its pretty standard today for the 3 format combo pack (blu-ray, DVD, digital copy) and this one is no exception. It has a decent amount of special features as well, so its a worthwhile purchase for any fan of the Hunger Games movies. I gave it 5 stars because when I purchased it, it also included a movie ticket for MockingJay part 2 in theaters.

We have the 1st two movies in the Hunger Games series. I had seen them in the theater before buying the DVD's. Due to an injury, I wasn't able to see this movie in the theater, so I couldn't wait until it came out!! I like how Best Buy gives a discount on new movies the day they are released. I bought mine the 1st day it was out, and watched it the same night. Great movie!! I will buy part 2 from Best Buy when it comes out.

While this is my least favorite of the Hunger Games films (the second is and probably will continue to be my favorite) it is by no means a bad movie. The acting is great with several seasoned actors, including the late and great Seymour Hoffman, delivering. Unfortunately, the movie is a bit slow on the action sequence and slow on the 'rebellion' front, but it does so in service of the final film, which should bring about twice as much action as this film. Still, a must-own for any true Hunger Games fan.

I enjoyed this movie, watching it a second time on DVD, even more than I enjoyed it the first time at the theatre. The truncation of the storyline caught me by surprise when I watched the film the first time, leaving me with the feeling that Mockingjay should not have been broken into two parts. Knowing what to expect, when I watched it the second time on DVD, the abrupt ending did not taint my pure enjoyment of the film.

I loved the books, so I couldn't wait for the movies to come out. The first movie of the trilogy was very close to the book. The second book pretty close too. This book is not far off from the book, but split into 2 movies. So this first part of the last book is riveting. Very close to the book, of course not exactly like the book as they never truly are. Good rendition of the book! Must see for The Hunger Games fans!

Good movie but I'm reviewing the package deal, but not the movie - plenty of reviews on that already. Now that I have a Blu-ray player in addition to a standard DVD player, I look for the combo-packs of blu-ray, DVD, and ultraviolet digital whenever I'm buying movies. The small additional cost is well worth it. For home, we can use the Blu-ray, on the road it's the DVD. Haven't yet tried downloading the digital copy.

In the end I think this is a well made movie. It's not the best ever but is certainly far from the worst ever. Having read all the books the storyline was not new so my interest was seeing how the story was interpretative by the filmmakers and seeing what they created, especially this final book which was my least favorite book of the trilogy. Things are a bit slow but it was in the book too so that was expected. If you like the series then you'll like this movie too.

Pre-ordered this movie so I could get the download immediately. Love how Best Buy does that! I watched it right away and I'm waiting on my DVD set to come in the mail. I love shopping at Best Buy for bonus features. This movie is very good. I can't wait to see the next one!

Since this is part one of the last book it was a bit slow, it has a bunch of setting up to do. If you read the books you will LOVE parts they added that you didn't get to witness in the books. I would say as far as sheer emotional response this is definitely the most emotionally impactful of the three current movies due to its slower pacing. Either way this was a great movie and got me excited for the last one.

There have been lower ratings for this movie, but I believe they are unjustified. The movie is part 1 and is a set up for the finale of the final movie completing the book trilogy. Many people expected the flash and excitement of the previous movies, but that's not what this movie was all about. The movie did follow the book in many ways and did visually match what I expected to see. I give it two thumbs up.

I enjoyed the movie, BUT I hope the studios don't start getting in the habit of splitting the last part of a series into two parts like this. It began with LTR, the third movie and that made a lot of sense. However, about half way through this one I began looking at the time. Sometimes, I think the producers or studios take advantage of one gravy train and riding it for all it's worth, but they end up ruining it in the end. I guess, we'll see how the next installment turns out.

The blu ray version of The Mockingjay Part 1 has great picture and audio quality, as should be expected of a modern high budget movie. Although there aren't a huge number of special features, there is a deleted scenes section and a making of the movie section. I enjoyed the making of the movie section because it was very informative of the process of both writing the screenplay and the set design. I liked that they had many of the actors from the movie in the special feature.

I was worried that breaking up the third book into two movies was just a money grab. Although it might have been, this movie was very good and it did not feel like it was full of fluff just to extend it into two movies. I can't wait for the final film at the end of this year. Best Buy also had the exclusive SteelBook which goes along with the other two SteelBooks they had on the previous movies.

The movie itself presents the start of the revolution. Katniss is back and getting things done, but it won't be easy (I believe that's why they needed to cut Mockingjay in half). The steelbook exclusive, which is the release I picked up, is great, not so much of "premium" details like embossing/debossing but it goes on par with the previous releases. I have read that many people were getting theirs with scratches and dents behind the j-cards, luckily, that wasn't my case.

I haven't read the books so this review is purely for the movie itself. This was a VERY enjoyable flick with a high re-watch value. Great blend of emotion, violence, explosions, and interesting plot twists. Donald Sutherland's character has become more and more insanely evil as the series has gone on and he it at his BEST. I may even actually hit the theater for the last installment. Great buy!

The characters development are perfect for this movie series. Couldn't have found a better cast. I can't wait for the next one. The suspense and anticipation for the next thing in this revaluation is spellbinding. If you hadn't read the books you would be gripping your seat waiting to see what happens(if you've read it you will really get all the nuances). Amazing movie that will not disappoint.

Picking up right from the end of Catching Fire, Mockingjay continues to expand the world of Panem and the story of Katniss. The production value increases with each progressive installment and Jennifer Lawrence delivers another standout performance. The biggest gripe here is that, like several examples before it (Deathly Hollows, for instance), this feels like only part of a movie. Like you've paid your money, but only been given half the story. Still, its a good half.

Many people who saw this movie from my experience were not as impressed as they were with the prior two. As a reader of the books, I understand why the movie felt that way but also why it was necessary to break up the last book into the way it was for the movies to make sense. If you enjoy a series in an alternate world and some thought provoking themes watch all the movies. Not just this one.

I pre-ordered this steelbook and it is great. so is the movie. if you watched the first two - you already know this. starts off a little slow after the dramatic ending in Catching fire - but grabs ahold of you and starts to reveal the how the series will continue in Part 2. action packed with a great storyline :D

I heard mixed things about this movie, and never had the chance to see it in theaters. So I took a chance and picked up the steelbook to continue my steelbook collection of this movie series. At was interesting how they tied everything together, l enjoyed how it was more of a head game with the Capital, and trying to bring the districts together to stand up.... Can't wait for part two!!!!!
