Yet another great movie in the Hunger Games Saga! As a added bonus this move came in a Steelcase . I have to tell you the artwork is beautiful. It feels 10X better than the flimsy plastic cases you get today. I would recommend this movie to everyone! The whole series has been great I have enjoyed it very much. The Steelcase is a great addition to my collection. I hope BestBuy continues to offer them on movies Thanks..

It's impressive , packaging in a steel. This copy of mine will last forever. I learned that you own this version exclusively .I tried to get this from my favorite retail store but they don't carry it. And mind you it is way cheaper , which is the best deal for me. So from now on will check bestbuy first especially for new releases .

I had very limited cabinet space in my kitchen and this item can store food items discretely in an apartment kitchen/living room area. It is a beautiful cabinet that serves as both a pantry or as a storage unit. I love it.

This is the 3rd Hunger Games movie and I found it to be the best of the 3. It was exciting from start to finish and an excellent performance by Jennifer Lawrence. I recommend this movie!!

This is the dramatic conclusion of the series. [Good marketing to break it into two movies - keeps the "cliff-hanger" going.] Lots of big questions still pending and good characters you care about. Add it to the collection, I have.

I read the Hunger Games series again from start to finish over the summer, and I gotta say I really have developed an even stronger admiration for the series. The same can be said for the two previous movies: The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games Catching Fire respectively. And one of my most anticipated movies of 2014 was none other than Mockingjay Part 1. Time has passed since Katniss sent her arrow flying into the base of the arena in the 75th Hunger Games. And Katniss is not quite the same person she was. Peeta is a captive of the Capitol, her home District 12 is in ruins, and an offer has been proposed for her to become the new leader, a template to show the President Snow and the Capitol that she is in fact The Mockingjay. 3 is the number that sometimes doesn't work for a movie trilogy but thankfully for The Hunger Games movies, Mockingjay Part 1 DOES. Starting first with Jennifer Lawrence, she once again shines in her role as Katniss; she definitely fulfills the necessary emotions of fear, depression, and resilience throughout the course of the movie. And she does harmonize the "Hanging Tree" tune very beautifully. Liam Hemsworth does well in the movie as Gale; going to extreme lengths to keep Katniss happy. This time around, Finnick is a man who has lost something so precious to his heart, and Sam Claflin nails it. Josh Hutcherson definitely deserves attention for his role as Peeta in Mockingjay Part 1. He is being tortured and made to tell Katniss and the Districts that no one is safe. And Peeta is assuredly NOT the same boy from the past two movies. Woody Harrelson returns as Haymitch and does a good job. Elizabeth Banks plays Effie Trinkett and does really well, even without all her makeup. And Donald Sutherland's role as President Snow is a lot more effective. He is wicked and determined to destroy Katniss and her Mockingjay image and strip any thought/symbol of hope that people in the districts may have. Julianne Moore plays President Coin and Phillip Seymour Hoffman returns as Plutarch. Characters like Boggs and Cressida were cast well as Mahershala Ali and Natalie Dormer prove in the movie. More importantly, the whole of the cast led by the direction of Francis Lawrence did great. Much like The Hunger Games Catching Fire, I Really appreciate the way the writers were able to script the movie with some things that were in the novel, while also adding a few other pieces to it. The themes in this movie, especially with the whole political conflict and fight for justice/freedom feel relevant to our times. And if anyone were to ask me if I was ready for the 2nd part of this finale I would most certainly say YES I AM. I had sheer enjoyment watching Mockingjay Part 1 today, and while you wait for Part 2 to release, my final words would be GO SEE Mockingjay Part 1. RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman

I read Hunger Games recently, "eh, fast read". It was, but it was compelling, as was Catching Fire and then Mockingjay. The three movies have been excellent. The visuals of "the Capitol", and the "girl on fire" scenes added greatly to the value of the overall series, plus Jennifer Lawrence is the perfect Katniss. But the casting throughout has been fantastic, the actors have been able to completely embody the characters and the difficult times of this dystopian society. But, as I have said before, Suzanne Collins did not write a "reality show". She created Panem, an unkind and unhappy existence for the majority of its citizens, an UNTHINKABLE custom which was imposed upon the lower districts, said districts seething in silent rebellion, and finally all out rebellion and in Mockingjay, WAR. If one desires to see a simple action movie, there are plenty to choose from, and I like action films..... But Collins did much more with her series. She showed the toll taken on the everyday lives of the citizens, but most especially the toll exacted from the Tributes of the Hunger Games. Remember when Good old President Snow announced the "Quarter Quell". Not funny, not challenging, no way, nothing but HORROR, panic, and tears for those who had to return to the arena. This is why Effie Trinket becomes a beloved character, she begins as the worst kind of shallow painted doll and grows into a person with a HEART. I read that her character continues in the movies when she did not in the books because she is such a favorite. But the Tributes are never allowed to find any recovery from the initial PTSD. That struggle is REAL and well played. Katniss cannot "act" at being the Mockingjay. (actually those scenes give one an appreciation for how difficult "green screen" acting must be at times)... She becomes the Mockingjay when she sees that she MUST. For Prim, for Rue, for all the kids who have died and those the Capitol so easily kills... (hospital scene)...And yet the Mockingjay is still a seventeen year old girl. Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss flawlessly, one minute shooting at jets and the next waking screaming from nightmares. Yes, it might have been nice to see it all in one film, but the third book is very dark and three or over three hours would have been a lot to take. Yes, we hate to wait a year, but read the books again. WAR SUCKS, no matter the freedoms gained or the nobility in gaining them, or the fame of becoming a hero. WAR SUCKS and it damages people. Only Love helps. If one just craves action and noise, go see a Transformer movie. If one wants to be challenged and have something to ponder, this series delivers at every call. I think my favorite scenes are those crowds kissing the left three fingers and holding them aloft in silence. GOOD Good human stuff.

The first half of the third Hunger Games book is most certainly less action-packed than the previous movies. This of course is a necessary part of thoroughly telling the story. There is just enough action so that you don't get too bored. It's difficult to review just this one film without also dealing with the whole franchise. The role of President Snow is really played best by Donald Sutherland in this film, even more so than the last film. In the first 2 films most of his screen time was in the form of public appearances and so left little room for the actor's biggest strengths. Those strengths were brought to the forefront with this film. I am glad the role of Plutarch HavensbeeI, played by Philip Seymore Hoffman was completed prior to his loss. His role in the story line was greatly needed; was slightly disappointed that he wasn't more involved; as we has an incedible actor. Lawrence's performance was done well. Her character is somewhat traumatized and confused by the events at the end of Catching Fire. And here in this film her character is being used again, this time but district 13 and President Coin. The character deals with her situation in a way that we have come to expect which is fine because it is what we want from her. Although it may at times feel like a trailer for Mocking Jay in itself, or almost like a reality show, the story still progresses. Which is why I would actually only give this movie a 4.5 out of 5, but I can only do a 4 or 5, so it's a 5. The creators found a very suitable stopping point for this film, that leaves you satisfied with taking a break. That break however will be just long enough to get us all ready to go back to the theater this coming fall to see the conclusion to this epic story.

My final thoughts are more reserved for when the series ends. My wife has read the books and says this stays mostly true while hitting the high notes. At first I thought extending the trilogy to 4 movies was a money grab, but indeed my wife assured me that there is a lot going on in the 3rd book and the pacing is appropriate. At some point I felt as though the movie was settling into almost a TV show style cliffhangers - but who can blame Hollywood for copying TV these days (at least TV is doing it right lately). Jennifer Lawrence does a good job of playing the everyman - and does a convincing job of the insincerity we all might experience during the commercial shoot. I felt that was the most humanizing part of the movie for me. Outside that she goes back to her super hero feel though. Also - anyone really ever try to shoot an arrow at an aircraft? At the speeds and altitude involved I found that unbelievable. At this point, the plotlines start to become a bit more predictable, and the twist at the end of the movie was spoiled for me by my wife's synopsis given to be back when the first movie was released (spoilers don't bother me). The films quality is outstanding. Audio is great as well. I would expect both to be from a recent Blu-ray release though. The packaging is amazing, and blends well with the steelbooks of previous releases. Now hurry up and get the last movie out!

Saw this in the theater, owned it on Blu-ray. So is the 4K UHD version worth buying again ??? The answer in short is YES. However that comes with some exceptions. If you own a 4K Blu-ray Player then most likely you already own a 4K TV. That's the only way to enjoy this version of the Movie. Is that still enough to buy again ??? Well for me not exactly. I purchased again because of the added Dolby Atmos Soundtrack. The standard Blu-ray uses a DTS 7.1 sound codec.. So if you have an Atmos enabled receiver and height / ceiling speakers installed then YES this is a much improved version of the movie.
