Have always loved this movie and now I am very happy to finally own it in HD . The prosthetics are second to none as well. Classic Stan Winston.

This movie will chill you because its an horror nonetheless I find it pretty good it will put you on the edge

I procrasted on picking this one up for some time -and then when I finally decided to order it - it was out of stock, for months, it seemed. Based on the HG Wells novel - and a reboot before reboots were a thing (first film version 1977) - well casted to include Marlon Brando and one of my favorite performances by Val Kilmer. This viewing was even more pleasant as I now readily recognize Fairuza Balk and David Thewlis - AND this was the first time I've caught that Ron Perlman was also in this. A timeless story and the effects don't look dated! An excellent addition to anyone's collection!

Maybe I'm crazy in loving this movie. Maybe it's nostalgia. I saw this as a 14 year old in the theaters, but had never seen the Director's Cut. While it's not incredibly different, the violence is more on display in this version. I've always loved the creature effects as well. Those monsters stick in my mind 25 years later. I'd recommend watching this, then the phenomenal documentary about the doomed filming of this movie "Lost Soul" as well as the new doc "Val" to get a full vision of everyone's sides of what happened here. I would have loved to see Stanley's version of this film too, but what we have is a quirky favorite of mine.

I wasn’t bored at all watching this….it’s pretty dark and scary….great entertainment.

The lore behind the making of the film is better than the actual film itself, but it also makes it a much more enjoyable watch than it should be!!!

A bit of a botched-up sci-fi horror but can be interesting at times but a Slow Burn.

Love this movie. It has 2 of my favorite actors - Brando and Kilmer. It received bad reviews but I love the quirkiness of it.

Great film. This has to be one of Val Kilmer's best films. He and Brando really did a good job on this film even though they had many problems

Any movie with Marlon Brando I have to see! Im really surprised that he started in this type of movie. Its a newer version of the Island of Dr Moreau. The older movie is better. A mad scientist who experience with animals and humans. Ok!

Watch the movie then watch the documentary. Val Kilmer was a super nice guy!

The movie was in a snap-case. That caught me off-guard, I'm not sure that was clearly mentioned in the product info. Besides that small detail, the version of the film was great. I hadn't seen the movie in more than a few years and I was easily entertained all over again.

This is another movie I bought that was fairly cheap. was ok entertainment, but fits more into my category of something you would watch on tv, while falling asleep with nothing else on. Just buy it if you like buying dvd's. Its not horrible, just not too entertaining.
