This Blu-Ray doen't quite meet my expectations. When videos are redone in bluray I expect the video to be flawless. I wish the producers of the movie had done some work to enhance the picture, it's not the greatest. Still a good film and worth the price I paid.

A boring and predictable story that takes place in beautiful landscapes and stereotypical situations. The acting is ok, however the dialogues remind me a Mexican telenovela. Watch it is you are nostalgic of the Karate Kid saga or if you are fan of rural Japan.

    Great sequal but...

First off, I think this is a fantastic 80's movie. I couldn't wait to see it in the theater. Chosen is a great "bad guy" (I'll explain below why the quotes). All in all, I loved it. However, I have several problems with this movie: - First, In the first movie, Danielson moves to a new town with no friends and a bunch a guys pick on him and beat him up and gang up on him. Sure Daniel dishes it out too but he does not deserve to be treated this way. You feel bad for him and are happy when he gets his revenge. In the second film, Danielson goes to Chosen's villiage...starts messing around with his girl...embarasses him in front of his customers...punches him in the groin...and so on. Why the heck should we feel bad for or take the side of Danielson?!?! He should've minded his own business. And so what if honor is maybe taken a little too far for his liking...guess what...go back to Recita where all the Cali whimps are if you don't want to be held to the standards of a man who is responsible for his actions. But I digress -Second, Mr. Miaggi's father is about 157 years old and it's hardly believable that he's even still alive. Why does he sit there on the docks and cry like his wife an daughter where killed in a car accident or something?!?!...Didn't he see this coming even a little bit???...Not to mention the fact that he hasn't seen his father in over 40 years at least?!?!?! I enjoyed the film but I always root for Chosen and look away when Miaggi's crying...but that's just me...you go ahead and drink the Karate Kid Koolade if you want to.

The Karate Kid Part II is not quite as great or original as the first movie, but still has charm primarily due to the great performances of Pat Morita and Ralph Machhio. For those of us who grew up in the 80's this is a nice piece of childhood. Good video and audio quality to boot. Recommended!

The Weakest Movie of the Karate Kid Trilogy

Although a box office success and praised by critics, I found 'The Karate Kid Part II' to be a lousy story that just dragged on too long, making it the worst film of the trilogy. The dvd widescreen transfer itself is quite good, but there is an almost complete absence of bonus features.
