The second of Gene Wilder’s made for television murder mysteries that originally aired on A & E. Mr. Wilder reprises his role as Broadway producer Larry “Cash” Carter now retired to Connecticut following the murder of his wife. “Cash” directs the local, amateur theatre. This is the 1930s just prior to WW II. The story is the murder of an undercover agent attempting to assassinate a notable anti-fascist activist. All main characters from the first movie reappear including the airline stewardess who becomes Cash’s fiancé. Gene Wilder’s performance drives the movie, both by acting and by singing. It is an interesting mystery and a good period piece; not great for either, but good. It is good enough I held onto my VHS copy until I could replace it with DVD. I recommend it.
