Season 3 of the Last Kingdom is the best in the series. There are many interesting characters and it has an engrossing storyline. Found myself intending to watch 1 episode and instead watching 3 because I became so involved in the story. The books by B. Cornwell that the series is based on are also excellent. Highly recommend the TV series as fine story telling.

Love this series. Very good acting. The costumes more realistic than in some history series.

Once again, the sale price got me a great series DVD. The last Kingdom is a well written, well acted period piece about the evolution of dynastic politics in Great Britain. Some of the names you are familiar with from history, but to see them fleshed out with well-written characters surrounding them is good story telling. We are all 'Uhtred of Bebbanburg", (at least in our dreams).

Continuation of the story. Great DVD and I never really liked watching movies like this. Just love the story line and seeing how it was back in those days. Glad I live in these times! Worth watching!

More fighting, more treachery- a wonderful action packed season. Great period costumes and fantastic scenery. Enjoyed the final episodes. Thought they wrapped up the season nicely.

Too much filler, season drags on

The saga of Uhtred Ragnarson continues and unfortunately drags along very slowly in its third season. The storyline has an aging and sick King Alfred still not sure whether to trust Uhtred, who was captured and raised by the Vikings. The main storyline follows main historical events in England’s battles and internal politics while fighting the Vikings in using both historical and fictional characters. The story and season wastes a lot of time with a witch that curses Uhtred and extending King Alfred’s death. Both plot lines could have been shortened to a couple of episodes, but instead, both drag along the entire season, yawn. There are a couple of battle scenes that are well rehearsed, but they are resolved quickly and back to the boring dialog and witch’s curse. The author of the book series, Bernard Cromwell, has many books and Season 3 should have covered multiple books, rather than needlessly meandering along with filler episodes and dialog. If there is a 4th season, the writers should cover multiple books in a season or simply shorten the season. More episodes reduced the entertainment quality in the third season. Seasons 1 and 2 are much more entertaining and worth watching multiple times.
