Its difficult to find a good side-scrolling platformer for those who enjoyed the Mario and Kirby games of old, so I was very optimistic about this game. However, the gameplay in the first level is virtually identical for the entire experience, making for a very boring and repetitive adventure. Even the story feels very forced and unappealing. The game is chock full of useless collectibles - Im all for collecting in adventure games, but there is not one single collectible item in the entire game that has even the slightest affect on the game. Most of these will consist of random character's diary pages that recap parts of the story you already know; they are not even necessary to move on or understand the story. ALL items in the game serve absolutely zero purpose. Even the "special powers" you can use are limited to select single-use applications. For example, when you need to use fire on a wall, there is an item that lets you use fire located right next to the wall, you then use it to breathe fire and burn down the wall, and then you can no longer use fire. The game play is essentially the original NES mario game with no power ups and all the enemies are goombas. If that sounds like your kind of game, then this is the title for you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
