Picked this up shortly before the second film was released in theaters. Would definitely watch again!

Amazing animation for The Lego scenes. Catchy songs and a hilarious ride. 2nd movie is also great too.

My son who is around 3.5-4 loved this movie. He of course loved legos a lot so this was a step up.

This was the first one so I purchased this as well to preserve the continuity so to speak.

This animation looks so cool in 4K, would recommend to anybody who is on the fence about it.

THE MOVIE: I will let the numerous positive reviews on rottentomatoes.com and metacritic.com for this film do most of the talking for me. The one positive that I would like to say in my own words is that, although the social commentary will fly over the heads of most of the individuals in the target demographic for this film, I find it to be thoroughly enjoyable. The only knock that I have against this film is that in some shots, the action can be hard to follow because there is just so much going on/to see. EXTRA FEATURES: One of the featurettes on the disc showing the herculean effort the computer animation team put towards making every frame, as much as possible, out of actual LEGO pieces, gives only that much more credit to all those involved in the production of this movie then what is already coming to them. The 3D Emmet and Vitruvius mini-figure are not all that important of an addition to this item. The extra cost for these items that will most likely spend the rest of their lives either on a bookshelf collecting dust or in the plastic box they came in can be hard to stomach for some.

If you haven’t see the LEGO movie, what are you waiting for?? It’s sooo awesome!!

I did not see The Lego Movie in theaters, but I have only heard positive things about the film so I took the chance purchasing the blu-ray when I saw it in store. However, I believe that if I have seen the film before, I probably would not have purchased the blu-ray. Rated 4 stars as a compromise between the 5-star animation and the 3-star writing. The animation is phenomenal and a treat, and I'm sure true LEGO fans could spend hours analyzing each frame to admire how true the animators were to the swedish plastic bricks. However the writing -- specifically the style of comedy and the quality of the characters -- left me underwhelmed. I understand comedy is a matter of preference, so I would say if you enjoy Will Pharrell movies then you would enjoy The Lego Movie. This is not because Will Pharrell is in it (he is), but because the comedy has predominantly improvisational feel, backed up by awkward interactions. It did not appeal to me as I prefer my comedy a bit more structured (I feel The Lego Batman Movie leans more towards this style, and I did find that film more enjoyable). As subjective and personal as comedy may be, I feel the main character is incredibly boring. Like, intentionally and primary to the plot boring. As in, boring is his most important characteristic. I've heard many say that Batman steals every scene he is in -- well that's not hard to do with a main character as bland as this. Though it's impossible to separate that aspect from the message of the film itself, I feel that The Lego Movie suffers for it.

I own this in 3D, but the 4K transfer went on sale. Great technical presentation.
