Great movie! Peter O’Toole is so good at playing Henry II that he got to do it twice.Not to mention having very young Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton, Katherine Hepburn, and Nigel Terry(who played Arthur in ‘Excalibur’). For anyone who enjoys Robin Hood stories, this is the royal family featured in them. Being set during Christmas time, it can be an overlooked holiday movie. Who doesn’t love a good dysfunctional family story around the festivities? This is as dysfunctional as you get. Letting the Queen out of prison to celebrate holidays, the sons quarreling for who should be King. Just like Henry says, “Well my loved ones, shall we hang the holly or each other?!”

An oldie but a goody. Great for saturday movie night by the fireplace.

Saw this movie years ago when I was in high school and wanted to see if it held up. The dark colors are really rich and deep black. Liked the intense drama between the main characters. It captured the essence of the time period. The set and props were a little outdated, but the castle looked just like I remembered it!

This has always been one of my favorites since seeing it theaters when it first came out. The blu-ray is much better than the previous DVD copry. Too bad they did not have any special extras other than the trailer. There is closed caption though - which is always appreciated for my mom.

The DVDs I have purchased from Best Buy have always been have top notch Movies. I would recommend buy the classics from Best Buy for there quality, Price and Packaging. I really enjoy this production, The Lion In Winter.

I bought this because of the notable actors and the fact I have never seen them act together before. The description given, of the flaws in the movie, makes it sound charming all the more.
