I bought this for my wife. She loves The original Lion King, and she loves lions. The design of this steelbook is amazing. She loves it, and I love it too. I'm not into Disney movies, but I really liked this, and have watched it multiple times already. This might be the best looking 4k movie I have ever seen. The picture quality is amazing. Probably the best one I own. I was blown away with how awesome this movie looks. I even said while watching it, how awesome it looked. I have already recommended it to several people. I would buy it again. It kind of makes me want to check out other Disney movies on 4k.

Loved this movie really great follow along to the cartoon movie and a great graphic animation of the animal characters on there that they had a very realistic look to them. Really liked the characters sense of humor come thru with Timon and Pumba. Great singing on there . The hyenas came out perfectly villian like and how they add their unique behavior for them from the cartoon on there . Even Scar strutting around with look made a perfect bad lion. Really loved the added animals heading to where Timon and Pumba live when they were showing Simba where they lived and how they all ate together .

The original Disney The Lion King cartoon is one of the most loved cartoons of all time. This remake using breathtaking CGI to make the animals look as if you’re watching a National Geographic special. Truly groundbreaking computer animation accompanies a near word for word adaptation of the original script. Very few changes make this feel very familiar to the original. However, the movie really shines in 4K and make it an amazing visual experience. The soundtrack in Dolby Atmos is good but not great, with the sound mix being a little weak, a common complaint of recent 4K Disney releases. The songs also suffer a bit compared to the original. Still enjoyable but not on par with the original. Overall, the visuals and the few enhanced scenes make this a must watch for Lion King fans and those younger viewers who haven’t seen the original will surely love this movie.

You know, I think I wanted to like this movie more than I actually liked it. It was clever, well produced, visually stunning, and the cast was amazing. I think the biggest issue is with its realism, which is odd to say for a "live action" movie. You can't write a review without comparing to the animation. The cartoon added a lot of whimsy. There were songs with outrageous and colorful art, there were sight gags that were too unrealistic to be recreated, and the voices in that were spot on also. While watching this movie, I was fully entertained, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it needed more silliness. Maybe a bit more stretching of the imagination. And I've seen the old one enough that I still can hear the original voices in my head, even while watching this one. It was good, but it's not an update. It's an alternate reality.

The product comes in three formats: 4K Ultra HD (4K), Blu-Ray, and Digital. I've seen the movie using only the 4K format. Technology has came a long way... the animation is so lifelike that you'd swear you were watching real animals using hidden cameras (except, of course, where you know that a certain segment has to be animated, though you're left wondering... Is it real, or is it Memorex). The movie plot is almost identical to the original, but, the graphics are out of this world. A great movie for the entire family to gather around and watch.

This is Disney's remake of the 1994 animated feature about the king of the jungle and his heir to the throne. This is not a live action feature, but a computer generated, animated film that looks like real animals are acting according to a script; being able to think and speak. Amazing CGI technology is show cased in this film, like the Disney Jungle Book remake, but the Lion King has no live actors in it. The story is the same, but it is new in the sense that you believe you have live animals actually acting out their parts. Well done!

This was my movie when I was younger. I collected all things Lion King.. even the soundtrack on tape cassette LOL So to see this movie brought to life with "live action" is so very awesome. And it still hit all the feels in that one scene with the wildebeest stampede. There were scenes that kept to the original and enough scenes redesigned to make this it's own original film for those who never saw the original animation. Having movies in steelbook are great for storing on your movie shelf. Sleek and clean looking for any collector.

I had vhs tape when this movie first came out. Gave all my Disney movies away when I moved. I did get the DVD/Blu-Ray combo of first movie last month and pre-ordered the new one. I got it just last week. This is also the DVD/Blu-ray combo. As much as I liked the original, I love the new one. I felt more like I was there with all of the animals. And I love it that James Earl Jones was the voice of Mufasa in both movies. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

This Movie ROCKS!!! A HUGE improvement from the original. The images in 4k UHD just pop. The colors, realism, the details (in the animal fur, the animals real lifelike motion) is exceptional. The soundtrack is also exceptional, one must listen via a quality sound system to fully enjoy the clarity and excitement this fabulous soundtrack delivers. This is definitely at the top of the 4k UHD movies I've seen to date. This is one exceptional movie you must. Own.....

If you've seen the animated movie The Lion King, then you're about to watch the movie all over again. This live action/CG movie almost plays scene to scene as the animated version. I'm not saying that's bad, but rather a good thing that it doesn't ruin the original. James Earl Jones comes back to lend his voice, but what's missing is Whoopi Goldberg's voice for the lead hyena. Otherwise, the voice overs are good along with the musical numbers.

Big Smile and fulled of joy inside like it was a lion king fans dreamed seeing this again at the big screen with new cast and most off new technology that proves that a change cant hurt the classic!!!!! and yess there were different scenes and songs were different but they all did an amazing job!!! as did is not enough go look at the scored off this movie! its number 7 in worldwide of all time!! in the box office!.... big props to the LION KING

The Lion King is one of my favorite Disney movies. I was so excited when they said they were going to make a live-action version of it. I thought that it was pretty good. I just wish they had done better with the Scar/Hyena's Be Prepared song. I'm hearing others felt the same way. Other than that I thought it was pretty good. Nothing could ever beat the original Disney animated classic though and that's exactly what it is CLASSIC!

This movie is exactly the same as the original 90s cartoon version just live action!! It may have some new scenes or added lines but change is always good. The scenes are beautiful.. the pride lands look great ..the animals look good. People complain about the animals not having expressions but I mean come on when have you ever seen a lion with an expression? Overall great movie for kids and adults and for everyone!!

Will you love this one more than the first cartoon? No, not if you saw that when it came out and loved it, this is the same movie but different. If they had made the first move like this you would not know the difference, but my kids and I loved the first one when it came out, and even though this is Great, its not the same and has to be viewed that way. It is great and is a classic and to me and my kids, worth it...

4h ago This movie was phenomenal! The beauty put into making the pride lands. All the characters had much more dialog and personality put into the characters. The songs added much more depth and were very enjoyable to sing along. The extra added song spirit wasn't needed in my opinion. Overall I loved the movie. This movie was phenomenal! This movie is a live action re-make of the best animation film of it's time. Although CGI animated to simulate real life animals but some call it live action for wrong reason. Movie pretty much stays true to original scrip but there are some differences from the cartoon version. I take it Disney is just remaking these classics to fill the coffin as they can't come up with anymore great storyline features

As is the case nowadays, owning a movie on a disc gives you insight into the film making process with the special features. Very interesting to learn the inside scoop on the way it all comes together and the people behind it. This movie was one of Disney's crowning achievements. This version does nothing to change that. In fact it shows a whole new way of making the movie 25 years later. Groundbreaking.

This is a very pretty looking movie and you'd be right to get it on 4K UHD disc. The movie itself is lacking in the emotional appeal of the original, as stylized animation and expressions are replaced with a hyper real and impressive CG tech demo. This is one of those movies that seems to exist maybe primarily in the long run for the purpose of pushing and developing filmmaking technologies that will benefit future, better films. I don't think it's bad, but if you own this and you don't also own the original movie that had nothing wrong with it, then I think something might be wrong.

I loved the original Lion King and love this version just as much. The visuals are absolutely stunning. I purchased the 4K UHD version which is truly amazing in picture quality and sound. Some UHD discs show little difference between that and the blu ray version but this is really a great quality. The movie itself is absorbing, funny, beautiful and tells a great story to never be forgotten.

Ordered this as an advance order, it came faster than promised. Got the 4K - we do not have very many 4K movies to watch on the spiffy Sony TV we bought from Best Buy a while back. I guess I'm a fan, have never had a problem with anything from Best Buy. I'm not a big spender but have also never had a problem with Best Buy. When necessary, their staff is knowledgeable and very helpful!
