Originally I had wanted to see 'The Lone Ranger' when it was in theaters. But because of the lukewarm reviews, I decided to hold off and wait for its release on Bluray. I seriously don't get the hate this movie is getting. Includes a fair amount of special features and extras. Picture and audio on this blu rocks....! Too bad reviewers likely killed the sequel.

I have looked for this movie since I first rented it. It was not popular at the box office so I didn't see it until later. It is a funny movie. It is unconventional, but I enjoyed it despite expecting a conventional western.l I recommend it to buy. I ordered, it arrived promptly.

I don't go to the movies as often as I use too. Wish I would've had a chance to see this on the big screen. Enjoyed the action, thrills and silliness of it all. Wish they would've made another!

I picked up this DVD as a gift for my mother. It isn't a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it was delivered by the time it was supposed to arrive.

I had heard this movie was a waste of time. If you are one who feels compelled To stay with the same character studies as in older films, you might feel that way. Growing up with The Lone Ranger tv series, I admit t a bit of bias going in. However, I found the movie to hold to the same values as put forward By Clayton Moore, Jay Silverheels, and others from way back when. How they did it with this movie, well, you will just have to watch to see. Glad I spent the money on it. BTW the DVD add on features, especially the Cowboy Classroom, were very nearly worth the price of admission. A word about Johnny Depp. What an actor! His comedic timing as well as his ability to bring forth a strong character when one is called for is right there on the pinnacle of greatness. Mark my word, he will be honored as one of the greats of Hollywood before he is done.

The Lone Ranger was a fun action movie, a good "popcorn" flick, with a sense of humor. The story is a bit stock, but there are plenty of great moments that make up for any lack of depth. Arnie Hammer is a good Lone Ranger, but Johnny Depp steals the show as Tonto. I really wish I had gone to see it in theaters. I was excited about it until I heard the words "flop" bandied about by critics. These are the same talking heads who trounced cult faves like "John Carter" and "Dredd" before they even hit theatres, I think. Ignore them! This is a fun movie!

Despite being a re-telling of a fondly remembered TV show, I enjoyed it. Feel it was balanced mix of comedy and action with hint of morality. It does require some suspension of belief for effects (though enjoyable) and storyline. Depp as Tonto, notwithstanding his fine job, SHOULD have gone to a First Nation member as was Silverheels. My main quibble was that it seem to try to throw too many plots into the movie so that it seems rushed and spasmodic. Still I enjoyed it and still re-watch it.

Much better than many critics would have you believe. I am a fan of the old tv and radio shows and this is a pretty good update, although it drags in the middle. It is fairly faithful to the original concept and actually gives the two main characters some background lacking in the earlier versions. Tonto now has a reason he left his people to join the Lone Ranger. As for the ranger himself, he starts as Jimmy Stewart in 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" and morphs into John Wayne.

This movie was overlooked at the box office

I think that the critics' reviews for this movie were very detrimental to this movie. It is a fun, somewhat cheesy western adventure and definitely from Disney. There are laughs, action, and music - very entertaining. If you (or your kids) like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies then they are going to like this. Yes it is very similar but aren't all movies these days? If you want a little western fun with some great modern day effects and cinematography check this out.

The critics panned this movie before it ever hit the theaters and killed it at the box office. I think they were wrong as I enjoyed this movie. A ton of action, humor and stunning visuals made this a great movie to watch. I should not have believed the critics and watched it on the big screen. I waited until DVD/Blur-ay and I bet it was awesome on the large screen. I think Johnny Depp stole the show. Check this one out. I think you will like it too.

The Lone Ranger wasn't what critics and the general public were expecting. It takes the primary characters in a different direction - with a different sensibility and sense of humor - than the ol' Clayton Moore series. With that comes some good and bad, but the negativity the movie received during its theatrical release was also somewhat of an overreaction. The final 30 minutes are classic blockbuster, but the preceding 120 (yes, it's a 2.5 hour movie) focus quite a bit on Tonto and the continuing isolation and decimation of Native Americans. It's also told primarily in flashback, with an intriguing setup that is used to facilitate that storytelling device. It's far from perfect, lacks the spunky dialogue of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and could have been much more fun, but it's still loaded with interesting ideas that deserve their chance to be viewed. As for the Blu-ray itself, given the theatrical run's commercial disappointment, Disney didn't put much effort at all into the supplemental features. There's no running commentary, no Second Screen. Just a handful of very standard items. At least the Best Buy exclusive also included the Wanted album via download - and a bonus track on top of that with Hans Zimmer's take on the William Tell Overture.

I imagine the core audience members venturing out to see this latest incarnation of the masked avenger have no connection with the original series that first premiered in 1949 and I imagine anyone who might have loved the original western series is likely too old at this point to even care about this film. That leaves one to wonder who exactly was pining for a big screen version of The Lone Ranger, but regardless it was easy to see what Disney was attempting to do here. Bringing back mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and pairing him with the Pirates trilogy director and star in hopes of launching another massively successful franchise that would spurn untold millions in merchandise and attractions at their parks. With a rumored budget of nearly $250 million the mouse house is betting big on Depp and his eccentric version of Tonto, but even if that plan doesn't pan out (and it probably won't) what Verbinski and his team have delivered here is a meditated account of a modern western. Granted, I'm not overly familiar with the genre and have only seen a handful or so of these kinds of genre pictures from their heyday (and one Buster Keaton silent comedy in film school) it is clear where the inspiration is coming from.

This film falls right in line with any typical Michael Bay film. It's not as dull as the Transformers movies but not as entertaining as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, although, Johnny Depp's character (Tonto) is very reminiscent of Captain Jack. Of Course his portrayal is what makes the movie fun. It's worth the watch but don't have high expectations. Know that it is just for fun and do not take it too seriously.

I am not really a fan of westerns and have never had any desire to watch the Lone Ranger TV show, but I am a big fan of Johnny Depp, so I had to check this out. It is a comical and entertaining movie that moves along at a good pace and manages to tell a coherent story through all the action and character building. Depp's performance is excellent and intriguing, while Armie Hammer plays a convincing ranger.

I really liked this movie. I have no idea why it bombed so terribly but the Pirates movies make money. It's pretty much the same character for Johnny Depp. But he's always playing some kind of weirdo in white make up. But this movie was funny, had good action, some pathos, great villains. I would like to see a sequel but I guess that will never happen. Haha.

Family (Teen kids and wife) enjoyed the movie. It's entertaining from beginning to end. Outcome was not a "surprise" but it is the "Lone Ranger" so the good guy is suppose to win right?! Johnnie Depp, and the rest of the cast played convincing roles albeit Tonto was eerily familiar to a Captain Jack Sparrow type character. Picture, sound and overall quality was outstanding.

I know that a lot of people didn't care for this movie, but I am not one of them. Yes, there were some holes in the script that were never answered, but in my opinion, that adds to the flavor for this movie. Not every movie could pull that off, but I am pleased with how this movie progressed. It had trademark Johnny Depp comedy, and tons of action.
