Finally on Blue Ray!

Finally the greastest trilogy of all time is being released on blue ray. Lord of the Rings movies are some of the best movies I have ever seen. The story, the actors, and acting are superb. I cant wait to pick this up and add to my collection. Peter Jackson is a genius to make this into a movie from a book. They do not always turn out so well but he did a fantastic job. The cast chosen for these films could not have been better. The battle sequences are some of the best I have ever seen and the CGI is excellent. James Cameron used Peter Jackson's WETA's Workshop visual effects company to help him in making Avatar. They are exciting movies from begining to end. If you are a die hard fan or if you have never seen these movies reserve your copy today it is going to be worth it. If you like battles, swords, wizards, magic, love story, excitement, anticipation if Frodo will make it to Mount Doom in Mordor and destroy the ring in time, plenty of on the edge of your seat action and excitement, and a overall awesome story get this blue ray.

Saw the Hi-Def 1080P preview for the LOTR Blue Ray release during trailers on the Sherlock Holmes Blue Ray last night. Stunning picture - superior sound! THEN watched Mines of Moria scenes on Ext. Version DVD of Fellowship. The picture and sound aren't bad. THEN watched the Hi-Def release trailer of LOTR again. The difference is LAUGHABLE! Laugh out loud difference. NO COMPARISON - BLUE RAY PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY HANDS DOWN WINNER! AND Best Buy sales price is $59.99 -$10 less than buying from Warner Bros directly! BUT WAIT- THERE'S MORE...D I G I T A L friggin C O P Y. Gonna download right into I-tunes, sync to Ipod and watch in my car's AVICF700BT!! HOLY S%@T!! When the Ext Ver Blue ray comes out next year - I'll be buying that too! I own the regular versions, Special Edition Box set Ext Versions w/ the all the trinkets. It's LOTR in 1080pHI-DEF 24P, DTS Mastered soundtrack pumping thru 110Wx6.1ch @ .09% distortion - SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!

Finally the best Trilogy ever released, in my opinion, is finally coming to Blu-Ray... I wasn't a huge fan of this movie when it was released... In fact I wanted nothing to do with it... one day I was bored at home and thought I'd download a copy of "The Fellowship of the Ring" and watch it... I was GLUED to my screen... I immediately went to Best Buy and bought the Extended version and watched it again... And lucky for me I saw the first one about 2 weeks before "The Two Towers" came to theaters... I was hooked on it ever since... I bought the original versions of each movie and the extended versions as well...
For those wondering... I read the extended version is being released on Blu-Ray as well, just at a later date... I might just do the same and buy this version and then the extended when it's released on Blu-Ray... I highly highly highly recommend this Trilogy to anyone that enjoys movies...

NO EXTENDED EDITION

The studio did this on purpose so that everyone falls head over heels for the LOTR because it's on blu-ray. When the studio releases the extended next year people will double dip and spend another lump of money. In my opinion, it is definitely not worth it until they release the extended version. Don't waste your money people, especially if BestBuy is offering a nice tin case.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WAIT FOR EXTENDED EDITIONS !!

First of all, let me just say that as a massive LOTR fan, I understand why some fans are upset that we didn't get the extended versions of these films right off the bat. Having said that, let me assure you that this is a QUALITY product well your hard earned $59.99.
I had not seen the theatrical versions of these iconic films in years, and all I can say is that strictly from a cinematic viewpoint, they simply flow BETTER! (THAT'S RIGHT I SAID IT!) All the excess information given to us in the EE's now seems, well, excessive! These versions are much more concise and to the point. In my opinion, the EE's now just feel self-indulgant, bloated and waaaaay too long.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this product. You won't be disappointed.

Do NOT buy this THEATRICAL ed. - wait for extended

Wait for the extended cut of this trilogy. I was duped into buying two versions of the LOTR DVDs (theatricals and then the extended cuts). The extended cuts are worth the wait! DO NOT LET THE STUDIO DOUBLE DIP FROM YOU. Shame on them, twice.
That being said, I LOVE LOTR. They are great movies and everyone should see them.

One of the best movies of all time but this blu-ray is not the extended version. I purchased the DVD version twice in order to get the extended version and it was well worth it. The extra material helps make more sense of the movies. I think it is well worth waiting to get the extended version on blu-ray.

This is my favorite Trilogy and I was counting down the days for it to be released on blu-ray, but New Line decided to release the theatrical version only. This is an absurd, considering they could include both versions in a disc set. All they want is for us to buy it twice (like they did with the DVD's).
Don't buy this one and wait for the extended cut release!

No offense, but what are you guys hating about it?
I am sure if you guys were the producers, you guys will do the same (find the way to sell all the versions of your movie).
So why not appreciate this movie finally being in Blu-ray.
The pictures are great and so are the audios.
To be honest, the pictures and audios will vary depending on how the theater system is set up (receiver's capabilities) and the more expensive your system is the better the pictures and sounds.
To me, I think movies should be respected due to one fact (how would YOU have produce it?)

Don't fall for this. Wait for the extended versions of these films which will be released when the Hobbit is released in theaters next year. I made the mistake of buying all of these theatrical versions on DVD and then bought all of the extended versions. BS!!!

For first time buyers...DO NOT BUY this movie yet. I strongly recommend you wait for the EXTENDED VERSION of this movie because it's worth to wait rather than wasting your money for this upcoming theater version release. I have the DVD extended version of this movie and I can't wait to see it crisp and clear on Blue Ray version.

Who cares about extended edition?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best epic fantasy ever put on screen, bar none. To everyone who's complaining about no extended edition, I can only say that editing is a very good thing. Any piece of writing, whether it's a book, a story, or a movie script, is better for editing. Stuff that gets edited out is cut for a reason. With very few exceptions, the extended LOTR adds nothing. What do you get, Legolas belching? Stick with the theatrical releases and see the movies the way they were meant to be seen.

FOR ANY TRUE FAN OF THE LOTR MOVIES THE STANDARD EDITION IS AS GOOD AS THE EXTENDED EDITION YOU ALL KNOW THIS. AFTER ALL ITS WHAT WE ALL FELL IN LOVE WITH FIRST. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PUT NEGATIVE COMMENTS SORRY THAT ITS THAT BOTHERSOME BUT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO WAIT FOR THE EXTENDED EDITION, WE WILL JUST BE WATCHING THIS ONE WHILE THE OTHERS WILL WAIT. I HAVE MINE ON PRE-ORDER AND I CANNOT WAIT. INTEND TO WATCH THEM STRAIGHT IN A DAY. EVERYBODY ELSE ENJOY THEM WHEN THEY COME OUT!!!

I can't believe its not the extended version.
What is the point of the 9 discs then?
I assumed 1 disc was the extended version and the other 2 were special features for each movie. This is a really big disappointment. Gonna have to wait longer for the Extended Edition. Thanks a lot!

Sick of companies double dipping customers...Both versions of this have great cinematic value. They should have packaged them together in one set. 3 discs containing both versions of the films, 6 discs for special features. 9 discs, One package. Enough of the Rip Offs

DO NOT BUY IT! For all the fans out there this movie isnt what it is without the extended scenes. They are trying to steal your money by releasing the different versions one at a time. Do not fall for their tricks. Wait till the extended versions come out on blu ray.
