I am waiting for the Extended Edition. I am sad and upset they are releasing the theatrical edition and not the Extended Edition. I dont want to have to wait another year for the Extended Edition.

Shocked they didnt go all out and release the full extended versions as per the super deluxe dvd set the released years ago. What a horrible way to treat such a legendary movie. Geeks unite!!! We must revolt this feeble attempt!!!!

This is a Def buy for me on day one. I happened to watch the third film on comcast hd and it looked amazing. I can't wait to see it on bluray. For 59.99 and you get all the films along with two dvd extras its a def buy for me. Who cares about the extended version these movies are already like 3 hrs long a piece. Now I need Stars wars on Bluray

My review is preliminary. I love the trilogy, and I'm sure I will love the BD versions. To everyone that is already griping about it before it's even out, take stock of the facts...it's 9 disc, which being on BD, means it probably more than sufficient to satisfy everyone...So, wait until its out before you start complaining...PLEASE GEEEZ!!!

Disappointed to find that this release was theatrical version only. Returned it and will wait for the extended version on Blu-ray.

ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE MAD AT THIS, YOU DO REALIZED THAT THE EXTENDED EDITIONS AREN'T COMING OUT FOR ANOTHER YEAY ATLEAST. MOST LIKELY AROUND THE TIME THE HOBBIT COMES TO THEATERS. AND THAT'S DECEMBER 2011. HONESTLY, HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO WATCH THE EXTENDED EDITION?

SAVE YOUR MONEY. BUY THE EXTENDED BLU-RAY VERSION WHEN IT COMES OUT INSTEAD OF WASTING YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

so sad a great movie like this!!! I have a 55 led samsung - with this movie I have a 5 inch blacked out top and bottom bars on the screen!

I didn't get the dvd extended version after buying the regular version because I was waiting for them to come out in blue-ray. It makes sense to wait for the extended version. They won't suck me in this time.

Do not buy this movie set until the release of the extended versions.Just say no to studio b.s

I will stick to my DVD versions until New Line can release better quality HD versions.

One of the best trilogies next to Pirates of the carribean, I just hope that they add the EXTENDED CUT to this release, which I hear WILL ONLY INCLUDE THE THEATRICAL VERSION.... : (

Love the movie especially the directors cuts.... Was hoping to see if the blueray ed. was the directors cut.

Can't see these movies without the Blueray format. You don't know what you're missing.
