If you've never seen the extended versions of these movies, you are really missing out!

The first item I received, The Return of the King Pt. 1 played about halfway through, and then had some major issues. You can tell it was with production since there were no issues with the disc (no visible scratches or imperfections). I contacted BB right away, and they sent me a replacement item. The replacement worked without any issues. I've read many reviews with the LOTR trilogy on BR where users had issues with their discs not working. If there are this many issues, why is nothing being done? My advice - check all discs immediately after purchase before BB (or whatever retailer you purchase from) throws out the "You've exceeded the term of our return policy. Sorry for your luck." This way you won't be stuck with a faulty product sold to you by a retailer who clearly knows about the issue but hopes you won't notice.

What can you say? Black Friday at Best Buy and Lord of the Rings on a screaming deal!

We upgraded to blue ray. Great images and sound. New Zealand is even more beautiful.

The movie alone was good.. but just seeing the bonus footage made the movie more special

I love the Lord of the Rings, and this is the best version of the series we've gotten yet.

Lord of the Rings has been and always will be one of the greatest trilogies ever created.

The setting of the films is just beautiful. Every new location makes the long journey from the Shire to Mordor a visual wonder while the cinematography of its camera angles, transitions, pans, etc. highlight the setting while not distracting from the action. (The way that this was filmed utilizing different camera angles to portray the hobbit-sized halflings is beyond clever!) The makeup, costumes, and hair are beyond words! I much prefer this to the CGI of the new Hobbit films. Orcs look infinitely better and the entire makeup and costumes department did a phenomenal job. As far as acting goes, everyone is absolutely perfect. Samiwise Gamgee is adorable and strong while the unusually weak main character, Frodo, breaks the leading man stereotype of being useful and wise. (This is a character note, Elijah Wood portrayed this instability very well!) Overall, Frodo really sucks as a hero, but the supporting characters are so incredible, they carry him throughout the film (literally...). There's not much that I dislike about these films (Eh Galadriel is just fricking weird though...) and I'd recommend these films to anyone interested in the fantasy genre!

The movies are amazing in blu-ray. I would recommend them to all my friends and family.
