What can I say? My only complaint is the discs fall out of their spots easily since so many are packed in here, but I use a separate disc storage anyways.

if you havent seen these at this point i am shocked! these movies are still great and thanks to the 4k versions some of that clunky cgi doesnt look bad no more

Can't believe these guys got me to buy these movies AGAIN. But I'm glad I did - the 4k transfer is beautifully done - and while it does shine a spotlight on some of the older effects, care has been taken in making the whole scene hold up - so there are few distractingly archaic revelations as is often the case with FX heavy material - however a bunch of the composite shots with Hobbits in frame with full size people do stand out more than in previous releases. It's a very well put together package of most of the material and editions I want - and the included digital code works on Apple TV (as well as the other services) which means you actually get 4K at decent bitrate if you're too lazy to bust out the discs. I got this as a companion to Planet Earth 2, Mad Max Fury Road and a couple of other 4k showcases, but the films themselves hold up beautifully and there's lots to see for fans of the literature as well as the movies on their own merits. I've seen some wonky 4k film grain that looks dry and papery, like a matt surface iPad screen - Highlander is a good example of when that detracts, but this maintains the right level of visual "moisture" and is still crisp and perfect. Audio is great too - Atmos enhanced surround is especially strident in battle scenes, in Barad Dum and other echoey locations - like the mountain caves. One minor issue - this was sold out at launch and my delivery was delayed - however Best Buy kept me apprised on its whereabouts and whenabouts.

This is the best set of this series in my opinion, it is at least very complete. However, the case does not hold the discs well. Every time the case is opened and closed, multiple discs fell out of the tabs (and there are like 9 discs). I may store the discs separately

This transferred to 4K amazingly. It looks great on my 4K player. I think it should have included digital copies, aside from that I recommend.

I love these movies. They’re classics, and this is the definitive version to watch. They look great on a 4K screen.

Enjoyingnthe 4k set compared to my blu ray set. Perfect timing for my LOTR rewatch this year. Saddened physical media is phasing out in the future. I do wish codes for digital versions were attached.

Watching Lord Of The Rings any other way now just feels wrong. This is definitely the way it was intended to be seen

Having the 4k extended versions is the best way to see LOTR. I recommend this set to anyone.
