I own all 3 movies on DVD, Blu-ray, Digital, and now 4K. All 3 films look absolutely fantastic in 4K. From what I understand this wasn't a simple resolution boost, they actually worked on changing certain visual aspects to give all the films a more even, better look and feel. As for the extended editions themselves, I really liked them. Some extended scenes just felt like extra content, others were welcome additions that added to the feel of the movies, and a few I think were necessary that should've been in the theatrical versions as they helped a few parts make more sense. The theatrical and extended edition digital copies that come with this set are a nice bonus. If you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings movies then this 4K collection is a must! 5 out of 5 stars.
