The Lord of the Rings trilogy from the J.R.R.Tolkien books is a real treasure. The story is great, there is lots of action and the moral overtones are certainly thought provoking. The world of Middle Earth as it is portrayed brings the books to life in a most satisfying way. Tolkien fanatics find that some of the changes that were made to the story and some of the characters and events are tragically unnecessary but I find that this does not take away from the magnificent scope of the story as it is presented. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is, I think, the best of the great fantasies as it centers on adult characters and themes rather than the younger characters of Harry Potter and Twilight.

This package contains all three movies (theatrical editions) in the Lord of the Rings trilogy for only $10. This is a pretty good deal if you just want to have the original movies for your own collection. The only drawback is that there are no extras or bonus materials. I would not recommend this to hardcore fans. You may prefer a package that has the extended editions of the movies and other behind the scenes materials. Also, at the time of purchase there was a Blu-Ray version of this package for $13. I don't have a blu-ray player but if I did I would have gotten that version instead.

I bought this set knowing very little about the Hobbit series, hoping to get a little understanding of what the storyline was. This is an excellent series of movies with amazing graphics and continuous action throughout. Some of the action is a little over-the-top and far-fetched, but it still makes for a great story and leaves you wanting more. It is worth watching again I would highly recommend this set to any fan and makes me look forward to the next movie in the series.I would highly recommend this set to any fan of the Hobbitt.

Lord of the Rings is one of my favorite film collections. The DVD collection is affordable and you get to own the whole collection. This is however no bonus features and perhaps you may be more interested in an extended edition collection. The Two Towers and Return of the King are stunning films.

This is the third time I have bought them. One set for each household and mine. They love the story lines and cast. There are themes of true friendship, hard work, comedy and forgiveness. Some scary moments and weird costumes for the actors. A lot of fight scenes and a few scenes with ghosts.

Got this for my cousin for Christmas. She loves the series. I was disappointed however that it all comes in one container. I prefer the collections where each movie comes in a separate slim case. If ya know what I mean. If you love the Lord of the Rings and want a cheap collection, I don't know why this wouldn't make you happy.

I have this trilogy in my list of many favorites movies i have but they were so expensive and when i saw they were on special i never doubt it to get it, no many people appreciate this kind of movies but wherever has to do to with wizards, dragons or else this is the best trilogy ever, now i can cross it from my list

I really enjoy watching this trilogy with the family. Having these movies to watch whenever we want along with the excellent quality of them makes this a good buy.

Huge Lord of the Rings fan. This package contains all three movies. It has everything, beautiful scenery, love, magic, comedy, intense fight scenes, amazing CG. Definitely a must have for home movie collection.

When combined with the "Hobbit" movies, it made a fun extended series. I have watched the series with 11 year old neighbor and we enjoyed it together. (some at theater and others via DVD) It gave her a reason to come visit -- along with the pizza and/or ice cream.

I am so glad I picked this set up. I had forgotten how great the stories were and this trilogy was excellent. They did a great job producing all 3 movies. Scenes and characters were great. This is definitely a set of movies I will watch again and again.

The Complete LOTR in 1 compact package, exactly what you need to fulfill you marathon watching needs in an affordable and effective way, just try not to get addicted to watching if you're by yourself, best to watch with someone else.

I got this for my dad as a birthday gift because he loves Lord of the Rings. He's already watched them twice and was so happy to receive the trilogy. definitely a go to gift for the Lord of the Rings lovers in your life.

This ‘classic’ set was a gift for my teenage nephews. They enjoy the films so much that they’ve already watched enough times to more than get the money’s worth.

Purchased this for (2) Grandchildren as they were reading the Hobbit Books. Thought it would be a surprise to get the series of the Lord of the Rings movies - they loved opening these at Christmas!

I have purchase so many movies VCR/DVD in the past and now wish I had not. But this set was well worth what I paid for it. The movies are great and the price was right

The great epic batting is now in my collections. Great movies for entertainment.
