I have to admit I passed this over on it's initial airing on SyFy (geeze,,I still hate that name) but once I saw a few of the second season episodes (it's on before The Expanse) I got hooked and had to see how it all started. It does flow better without the commercial breaks and with the saltier language, tho. Give it a try!

Good story line! It seem to follow in a classic form of story telling.

Buying this online was so convenient. I will definitely do this again.

As someone who read the books(and thoroughly enjoyed them), I can't justify giving this TV series a poor review. Obviously this isn't 100% true to the books, but no video adaptation ever is. Authors will tell you themselves that great books don't translate into great video without being heavily altered, and it's true. They're 2 entirely different forms of media, and require many alterations to translate over to another form. That being said, this is a great show. It takes place in the same world, with the same fundamentals, covering much of the same information, and does an excellent job at portraying the characters from the book. In my opinion they chose a fantastic actor for Quentin, it's spot on. Pulls off all of Q's quirks excellently.

Based on a trilogy of books, The Magicians definitely has a bit of Harry Potter vibe but is definitely darker and bloodier. Certainly not for kids, the series follows a pack of unlikely students (and some not) of a school of magic as they discover and attempt to stop a great evil. While it can be slow at times, the journey is well worth it and ends with a considerable cliffhanger for Season 2 to resolve.

I watched this when it aired on Syfy and loved it. I only had one complaint and that was the censoring of the language. It's not a huge issue, but it always seems to pull me out of what's going on in the scene. Thankfully, that's not a problem with the blu ray release. All censoring is gone. If you haven't seen this show yet, do yourself a favor and watch.

The Magicians is absolutely fantastic. Based on the novel trilogy, of the same name, this show quickly takes on it's own story pathways, leaving even the book reader guessing and longing for more. It starts out like a Harry Potter for adults, but it's so much more. I'd almost describe it as college Harry Potter meets Narnia, meets Game of Thrones.

Magicians is great....not ur ordinary sci fi magic fest.great script, great acting n the cast fit the parts quite well....have watched a portion of season 2 on tv already but want to aquire season 2 on bluray n then sit and watch them straight thru. Always find something new by rewatching an episode again...quite addicting is the magicians

I ordered season one online. When it arrived there was a rattling sound in dvd container. I opened it to find the dvd container broken. At first i thought no big deal as long as the dvd itself was good. Unfortunately the first of the 4 disks was scratched and smudged. I plan on returning it.

First season of a promising series for SyFy, more an adult variation on themes from Harry Potter. SyFy renewed the series, which should continue to do well. Packaging (first run) has a holographic image on the front. Be warned, the content is certainly not child-friendly in terms of some of the imagery, but this is a unique, fun ride.

I found The Magicians series of books in the library and listened to the AudioBooks. The SYFY TV series is now in its third season and they are doing a marvelous job of adapting the books but also being different from the books in a way that will keep you watching. Highly recommended.

I bought this so I could take advantage of a TV show deal that was being offered thinking it looked interesting and it didn't disappoint. It has elements of multiple sources, namely Harry Potter, but a darker, older version. I am looking forward to seeing what they do in the next season.

Not many special features, however. I really liked this show and was looking forward to those special features but they were pretty sparse. I hope it's just that they don't know if this series will catch on or what but for Season 2 I'd like to request a LOT more special features...

Love this series! A bit of Harry Potter in The Americas, a bit of the supranational and suspense for grownups. A lot of mystery and intrigue in a weekly format, and here, well worth the binge. A sexy taught thriller with chills in abundance.

I fully enjoyed this series. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. If this series was a book I'm sure I would not be able to put it down. One of the best series I have seen in a while. Well worth your time.

If you liked the show, then this is the blu-ray for you! The episodes presented are extended and unrated. Loads of special features and the digital copy of all episodes come with an inside look at each episode. Great show!

Watched a few episodes online. The show is written very decently and I enjoy the characters and story. But like I said this show is more adult driven. After three episodes I became a fan and can't wait for season two.

I TRULY ENJOYED HOW EASY THE MAGIC IS CREATED AND PULLED OFF IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES. IT TRULY IS SLIGHT OF HAND TO NOT SEE HOW IT WAS CREATED. I AM AMAZED THAT THEY CAN RECREATE THE MAGIC AND NOT GET CAUGHT.
