This was a wonderful & stunning assault on the senses, and not just visually & sound quality! The plot was terrific, it was well written and believable as portrayed by the actors in the film. This is an outstanding Sci-Fi film and has some wildly authentic unexpected twists and plot turns throughout the film! And just a side note: This film looks phenomenal on the 4K-UHD & with compatible 4K-Bluray player!!!! (Even more crispness in detail and extremely vivid in with its wide array of color gamut.) Also, if you have a moderately decent home theater or sound bar with subwoofer it will add a much welcomed & appreciated audio experience to your viewing pleasure!

This movie is just okay. I've seen it too many times. Sure it looks great in 4K though.

A well realized film adaptation of the novel by Andy Weir. Exciting, involving, funny and moving, "The Martian" does everything a good movie should. This is a science-fiction film that even people who normally don't like science-fiction seem to like. It is a classic survival story about a marooned astronaut who must fend for himself and find a way to survive and seek rescue over insurmountable odds. A later day, scientific, "Robinson Crusoe" told with uncannily correct science and technical details, which give the tale a sense of honest reality. Winner of a Golden Globe for Best Picture, I can't imagine this film not entertaining most film viewers.

I'm going to cut right to the chase, this movie is a thrill ride from start to finish. I have yet to dive into the Extended Cut but the theatrical version alone is worth the price of admission. The movie follows astronaut Mark Watney after is separated from the rest of his crew during a dust storm and subsequently stranded on Mars. We follow Mark as he tries to survive on the uninhabited planet until NASA can stage a successful rescue attempt from Earth. The movie is really entertaining and great for repeat viewings.

Purchased this movie because it came with a digital copy, good movie for the price I paid.

Matt Damon is excellent here. Some edge of your seat scenes in this movie. Glad I got for $4.99!

Action? Thriller? Not sure what genre this is, but it was entertaining nonetheless.

I bought this product based on the many excellent reviews and the fact that I am a science fiction fan. The reviews were right. The color rendition is fantastic, and the surround sound is tremendous. I also bought the book and read it before watching the movie. The movie is a good rendition of the book, but of course with less detail. I really recommend this movie to display what your 4K and surround system can do.

In recent memory, this is oen of the better "Hard" Sci-Fi, grounded in reality somewhat, for a fictional trip to Mars (and perhaps Humans will be writing a non-fiction account if they ever go there). This is also based on the book of the same name, and over all, it matches up close enough to it. For the 4K release in particular, alongside the Bluray, there are definitely areas of the film that are improved in picture quality. The colors, like red, blue, and greens are very vibrant. Some interior set shots aren't as good over the Bluray. The sound quality is even better.

Matt Damon is awesome in this 4K edition. Great story with top notch graphics and sound.

I enjoyed this film about never giving up and making the best out of a bad situation.

My review is for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. My five stars rating is based on the movie itself and the quality of this edition, I watched this movie for the first time on streaming and I loved the movie and its visuals. I just got this 4K Ultra HD and wow! it's so amazing. The Dolby Vision HDR quality is so great and playing it on my Dolby ATMOS sound system is just stunning! Best latest purchase, I hardly recommend it.

I found this movie to be highly entertaining. When my wife and I first saw it in theaters we didn't quite know what to expect. It turned out to be a very engaging film with lots and lots of humor strewn into it. After seeing it I knew it would be worth watching again at home. I originally picked up the standard blu-ray, theatrical version and enjoyed watching it a couple times then. Then I recently decided to pick up the UHD version and am certainly glad that I did. This movie looks appreciably better in 4K/HDR with wide color gamut. Resolution, despite being a 2K DI is noticeably sharper and cleaner. Long distant shots of Mars surface look crisp. Colors also have a more natural hue to them, and on occasion look punchier than they do on the standard blu-ray. Low light detail is also increased while retaining inky blacks. Overall a nice upgrade. The extended version adds 10 minutes and there were a few noticeably extended scenes, I don't feel it added all too much value to the film; it didn't hurt it either though.

I bought this Blu-ray movie without seeing it first. That's not something that I would normally do. But I love sci-fi and the and the tv trailer advertising made me curious. I love movies that have great ensemble casts and The Martian has an excellent cast with a great storyline. This movie was very engaging from beginning right through to the end. The storyline was suspenseful keeping you at the edge of your seat and had added touches of humor throughout the movie. I highly recommend this movie. I intend to give it as a gift to some of my family members during the holiday season. I hope you enjoy as well.

I have the Samsung 8500 Native 4K player, so this review is based on a full 4K HDR experience. I really enjoyed the movie itself. I think Matt Damon was great in the role, and the special effects were impressive. I really enjoyed the whole story line, even if a bit far fetched. Now the quality of the 4K Disk was impressive. I wasn't blown away, but def satisfied. I think it's a bit hard to judge, because of the Mars colors are kind of strange. The clarity and definition is fantastic, the colors are just a bit strange to me. However, I give the movie 5 stars for overall enjoyment factor and high picture quality.
